The cops in Aruba are on the ball!!

The first theory is that "people of interest" -- the three men 18-year-old Holloway was last seen with early Monday morning -- may have harmed her.

In a joint news conference with the missing student's mother, deputy police chief Gerald Dompig said the second theory is that Holloway may have chosen to disappear "on her own accord" and that still a third theory is Holloway may have been kidnapped.

Police have not ruled out any of these theories, adding police are still receiving tips "by the hour."

Fuckin every parents worst nightmare. Hope she is ok.

Good point. I'm in NYC the cops here deal with this kind of thing quite often.
Its easy for me to point a finger at cops who deal mostly with confused tourists looking for a restaurant.

Yea.. it's easy to criticise cops, but the majority do a half-decent job when they are seriously needed!!

On that beach incident - in the end they requested and got assistance from the FBI lab and also from Scotland Yard (London) officers, but the damage had already been done at "grass roots" level. The first few hours after a crime are obviously very important.

Cops on the islands just don't experience this and rarely have facilities/procedures in place - they can hardly stop from shooting themselves in the foot :-) (Yea.. I'm serious!!! *s*)

Mmmm not quite accurate DWB... The girl I mentioned who disappeared when her boyfriend (he was not actually her boyfriend - just friends) was shot - she was black.

There are also two specific instances I know of where "perps" are hiding in the US relating to child offenses elsewhere against both Latin and black children. They are not being forgotten, but currently being pursued by another organization.

Some folks just don't give up - but will wait years to "capture" them. Gotta admire the perseverance of the individuals doing this work :-)

Think back to the last 5, 6, 10 "missing girl" stories that received national attention. How many were black? Hispanic? Asian.

The reality is, white girl goes missing = good ratings.

I have yet to see any ethinc kids on the news. Maybe they don't play that news in Kentucky for a reason. lol

I live maybe 35minutes away from this girls hometown, Mountain Brook in Birmingham, AL. It is extremely exclusive, rich neighborhood that is full of very wealthy & prominent white families. Courtney Cox from "Friends" actually grew up there.

The media does have a way to trying to make missing white girls seem more important, and that is quite upsetting, too, but that's another subject. Still, whenever I hear about something like this, there's still a sense of loss, I hope they find her either way, so at least there can be some sense of closure, no matter how little or how frustrating, indeed, it's a parents worst nightmare.
