    links containing username and pwd

Hey everyone. Small problem I am working on:

I have a page protected by .htaccess

I am building an admin page with a link to the protected page, but want to pass the username and password variables to it, so the dialog box doesn't pop up.

    Can anyone post a suggestion?

    Thx

Is it just for yourself? Then it's just to link to http://user:[email protected]/something

Or is it going to be used by other people and you want to hide the password from them?

just for myself. I have 4 programs I am using, that each require a login. I also have a couple sponsors that use the popup dialog box, as well as stats pages.

I am building an admin consol on my local machine, with links to all this pages. Just trying to make life easier.

In that case you might want to use the construction above - paste in your username and password in the link as in the example. Some people turn off the possibility of doing that on their membership areas though, because this is how the links with hacked passwords are often spread.

doesn't ie have an option to remember passwords? that would take like .001 seconds less time to go the url, but you still don't have to type in your pw since it's prepopulated
