RSS Feed question

Why submit RSS feeds of the content on your site? Part of the equation is to promote the brand of your site. With an RSS feed someone is simply syndicating your content on their site and if you don't have links in the content that link back to one of your sites, how does that benefit you?

Another factor is I've heard google doesn't like duplication of content...

Have you looked at the information that is in the RSS feed? You control what information is included. Including a link to you is part of that information. The site that reads the feed could choose not to display the link information. If you don't include a pic in the image info then they are left with just a chunk of text.
