[email protected] is kind of short and was probably computer generated, as a former spammer myself i can tell you that there are many apps that will go and harvest shitloads of domains then you can insert a word list so it generates [email protected]. That might have been what happend to you. If you want to be 100% sure that a company is actually selling your emails add 4 random numbers to the end of your username for the email.

This is exactly what I was going to say... nasty@ could definately be generated. some spammers out there are using word lists to blast their domain lists. In the last week or two, my nastydollars email also started getting a lot of spam.. Up to maybe 100 a day now... it was nastydollars@.... So I've changed it to something with some random characters in it... We'll see..

I don't even use the programs name anymore as program@... instead it's some derivative of maybe the program name with some random characters/numbers.

Tons of programs sell there webmaster email lists. I remember when I used to work as a traffic manager for one of the big sponsors. Using my company email address I had to signup with TONS of various sponsors. More so that the average webmaster signs up for....

Next thing you know I'm getting TONS of porn spam to that email address. And my first name is "Carmelo" so I doubt that's a common enough word to be in a word list....but maybe.

I thought it was funny that people were selling there webmaster lists and spaming regular porn offers.

But at the end of the day all that really matters is how much $$$ a sponsor pays out and converts. I'm not going to drop a good sponsor cause they sold my email address.
