Of course for anyone using a proxy service like AOL, you will be screwing them. It's a good idea in theory, just not very practical. Creating a cookie on login would probably be a better idea.

You could as well generate a unique Hash for the mashine accessing stats,
but that would be killing a fly with a rock.

Verifying IP together with the session, is actually very secure.

Chances of picking up a valid session-ID that lasts an hour, or 30 minutes
created by a user of the same proxy-IP is rather unlikely.

I don't think you understood what I meant. Depending on your ISP, while you browse the web your IP address can literally change from one request to the next. As in, I request image A from IP a, and half a second later request image B from IP b.

and tell me it's one, so your proxy is not gonna change :)

You can't rely on a permanent IP, even during the same session (AOL, etc.).

What you SHOULD DO, is also use cookies as an additional layer of verification, plus a Hash of the USER_AGENT.

Who said relying on a permanent IP?

Once the IP changes (usually once every 24hrs) you re-login.

Again, the rest is killing a fly with a rock imho.

Anyway, IwantU will resolve this issue to the satisfaction of all involved, I'm

You can't read, huh? :) For some (most? all?) AOL users' IP address, for example, changes 10 times even when loading one page.
