New Napster Vs. iTunes Which One is Better?

I just saw a commerical that was advertising for Napster it said they are offering UNLIMITED songs for a monthly charge of something like $15.99, so now you can buy 10,000 high quality songs and OWN them legally, for $15.99, that seems like the much better deal. However I just love my ipod, and the way the itunes is set up is great. Which one do you use?

just started using napster, haven't used it since it was the real napster.

      gotta say, it's great.

      songs download instantly.
huge selection, well organized, you can sort by top billboard songs for
any year up to 85 or something, any genre.

i was pleased with it, and for $16 it's a good deal in my opinion.

i recommend em. plus you get a 14 day free trial which is not bad.

        itunes > napster

As I understand it in order to keep the songs you download from Napster you have to keep paying the 14.99 per month. Itunes lets you keep the music you download as yours, forever.
        I don't own RexMag anymore.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up.

I use I-Tunes and love it. I like how I can search all the songs in my own music library. Plus I think 99 cents a song is not bad. Sometimes I download a full album.

On Napster for $14.99 per month you get to mix your own music with a library of over 1 million tracks.
When you stop paying, you can't listen to your music anymore.
It allows you to listen to an incredibly wide variety of music, it's good if you like different type of music and like to explore.
Some people prefer to own their tracks, but that can get quite expensive.
On iPod u got to buy your tracks for $0.99 each and you do what you want with them. It would cost $10,000.00 to fill up a 20GB mp3 player though
I personally use Napster and love it.

My husband and I both are using itunes for our Ipods.

The napster site doesn't say that Ipod is compatable for the program
and you can't browse the directory until you pay.

Napster is sort of, anti - Ipod.

But.. I love my Ipod so I'm sticking with it.

I also use Music Match too.
So far, we've filled our Ipods with songs from our cds so we haven't actually bought any songs yet. But I know I will eventually.

I have to say that for someone who does not listen to mainstream music, neither one is that great. I still don't understand why someone doesn't open a napser/itunes like site for all the great rare, live, unreleased, b-sides, dj mixes and one-hit-wonders that are floating around in cyberspace but don't offer the big name's enough $$$ to bother to put it up on thier services.

... yes, $15,99 looks much like the better deal, but the day you stop paying your monthly subscription fee none of the songs can be played anymore. (unless you find I hack ....)

Well if you're real smart you get Napster for say 3 months, and download the program Total Recorder which allows you to record any songs played into mp3 format.

Rip 1 album per day for 3 months, and you have 100 albums for $45 in mp3 format which you can keep forever.

You pay $15 to Napster every month and receive full library access. You spend the same $15 at iTunes and you get 15 songs. Just 15 songs!

I don't even see how this is a question. I'll be getting Napster once my Rhapsody expires. Rhapsody, by the way, is another great system. The only drawback is it isn't portable.

You can use Napster just like iTunes and pay 99c / track if you want. I personally use Napster in subscription mode because of the large array of music I can hear.

I don't understand this obsession with "owning" songs. What does it matter? You spend LESS money and get access to MORE songs. Does owning songs attract the ladies?

I can't understand this obsession with *not* owning the songs. I also prefer buying DVDs vs. Netflix. To each their own, I guess.

No, you got to pay for that. They sell discount pass when you can purchase blocks of tracks for about 80 cents a track.
Napster is really cool if you use your mp3 player a lot and can connect it in your car.

Make sure you check that the player you want to buy is compatible though.
