is it possible to lighten up MPEG clips that are too dark?

How can I take a dark mpeg movie, run it through some kind of filter, and have it come out lighter?
is there software that does this?

the cameraman should have turned the light on while filming. what are they thinking when they film something and can barely see anything through the lens, and they just keep on filming?

Yes you usually can, with any video software.

anyway you do it will loose quality but the easyest way is to just overlay a white page and set the opacity at 5 or 10 percent.....

or in premier pro in the monitor window click on the effect controls tab, you will find brightening and darkening filters there....you will have to add a modifyer to each clip you are using

FYI- Premiere Pro 1.5 is the very latest version of Adobe's editing software. "Premiere 7.0" was just the preliminary (non-official) name for what became Premiere Pro 1.0

Sony Vegas can do it. If you only have Adobe, look for the effects and play with the brightness and contrast filters.

You can do it in any video editing program, Pinnacle and yep, even the free Windows Movie Maker that comes with XP
