I started a niche tgp that I'm keeping totally clean, no circle jerking. Of course this means that it'll probably be 3 or 4 years before it gets a good amount of traffic.

Right now to get traffic to the tgp I just put a link to it in my galleries but that only brings in about 100 hits a day.

I want to run ads for the site in an adult paper but I don't know if this is a waste of money. Has anyone tried it?

One the one hand there may be people out there who want to look at porn but dont know where to go, they see my ad, go my my site, and visit often. Maybe its a good way to get a whole new set of surfers who will be loyal.

On the other hand porn surfers today are very sophisticated (I don't know, I'm guessing) and the people who are looking for porn online are already online and not looking in the papers. Or just going through the search engines to find porn sites.

thoughts...?

I ask before doing it because it gets expensive.

the city paper does pretty good, the have about 300,000 readers, you can try that.

we've made some decent money putting penis enlargement ads in various swinger magazines, newspapers and newsletters in chicago, wisconsin and indiana

Wow what a good question. I've always wondered if an ad in an adult mag at the newsstand could make someone's site the next Hun (ok well not really) in less time and without the word of mouth?

Anybody try this?

I don't think it will work. If people are too dumb to find porn on the internet, what makes you think they even know what the internet is?

You would probably get sporadic traffic.

With a tgp I don't think it would be a good idea unless all the galleries listed were yours. The way I see it is you advertise in a swingers magazine, the people come to your site and see your three or four ads, but then they find all these galleries with ads for everything under the sun. You would be giving the galleries all your valuable customers. The only way I could imagine it working is if all the galleries are yours or if you were advertising something very unique and hard to find, like 36 inch double dong dildos.

My site once was listed in a large magezine with a screenshot of it and a little story. I would never pay for it. And it's very difficult to track or even impossible which visitor of your site has read the ad.

You do not get I think. There are a LOT of people that know exactly what the Internet is, but have no clue as to how to use it.
When they see an internet address in the paper, magazine or whatever, they go online and the first thing they do is type in the address they have!

It does differ from site to site though: TGPs are not good to advertise in print I think, erotic mailorders and paysites are.
We have been advertising for years in print, works well!
