I've got my first EURO coins !!!!

Yeah men, i know a lot of you are from the us and do not care about europe but here we've got the first euro coins (and soon bills) to be used on the 1st january 2002 in 12 countries ! (all the 15 from EU except Sweden, Uk (as always) and Denmark)

It's a bit strange to think that we will change of currency in 2 weeks... No more French Franc, Deutsch Mark, Pesetas... Alltogether with euros !

See you !

I've got some as well; at first sight they look like toys; they have all colors and blink as if they were on fire. Anyway, I'll run to the MrCash machines soon after New Year's midnight and try to be the first one in my bar to order a beer with a Euro bill
(how exciting... )

I picked up that euro-kit too ... man those coins suck !
Some are so small, and it takes a while before i can read what number it says on the coin.

It's gonna be hard for the older people, they're gonna be ripped off big time.

True, Viper. Also, when you think of blind people, how will they feel the difference ? Here in Belgium, we have 5 -I guess- coins of the BEF and all have a great difference in weight, size and contour. But those new euro coins... ?
Also imagine your young time, when you had parties with your school group. How will they be able to see the difference in a dark corner of a party place, with both old coins and the new euro's ? I remember that I had a hard time back in time when we only had our national coins; now they add 8 or so to the list.

Watch out, people...

What do you need coins for? I worry more about those 200 and 500 bills that won't fit in my current wallet

Check the sides of the coins, they each have a different pattern there.
Hehe, I first thought those 20 cent coins have had an accident or something (check the sides )

(doh, Trax already mentioned it ... oh well, i confirm hehe)

Indeed, the sides should do the job. But touch them and compare to most current European countries. Those euro coins are less distinct...

well.. i would not like to lose the us dollar but i think the whole euro thing is very interesting.. i have a lot of stocks from european companies that are dealt in euro for nearly 2 years now.. i think guys from netherlands, germany and other countries donīt like to lose their currency.. especially when they used to be very solid

those coins are gonna fuck up the economy.. everybody that hopes for the same deal as with USA, sorry but youre not gonna get it ..

i sure am glad that sweden wont participate in the euro thing. atleaset not yet. sure the stocks are gonna rise for a while but when the effects of a big fat assymetric chock hits the markets, well then we gonna see a few people jumping out windows..
