It's not guaranteed listing.
It's a guaranteed review within 7 business days.

The can still reject your site.

I've done it for non adult sites and never had a problem, good source of steady qualified traffic... also a note, they never rebilled any of my paid additions... :-)

Although they say its a recurring fee, I've never heard anyone get rebilled on it. Other than that, its a guarantee'd review, not inclusion. And if you do get accepted, you still need to know some basic SEO to try and get that listing into the top 30 or so. In general, I wouldn't really bother unless you're going after a niche where you believe you can get a top ranking in.

For adult sites, I thought it was $700+ and likely you'll get very little traffic to justify. It IS recurring and I've had clients rebilled. I told them to cancel.

The biggest problem is how they treat your site in the SERPs (non-directory results). Often your home page and directory description will show up, which in many cases will not contain the keyword(s) the surfer entered. Of course, this means less click-throughs ...

Overall, definetly not worth it -- unless you luck out in with a near-top listings on a very popular category. So if you are going to do it, research the sections you want to be listed in thoroughly!

If you dont know , its better not to try.

Firstly as already mentioned , its not a guarantee your site will get listed..

I had a site i tried to add was declined and i was still charged the fee. And they ( visa) wouldnt let me chargeback.

Dont do the lycos one either. I had my site added and then my se traffic dropped of the face of the earth, before it was added i got quite a bit of traffic , and hoped it would INCREASE not DECREASE

I have two sites in the yahoo directory and both received over 3,000 hits daily when they were listed as 'new'. Even today, these sites rarely get fewer than 100 hits per day from their listings and one of the sites has been in the directory for over 3 years. Of course, I never paid the $600.00 fee. The sites just magically appeared in the directory one day (I love when that happens), although I had seriously considered submitting one of them prior to that point and probably would have if it had not gotten in on its own.

Its worthless now!!!

We started it 4 years ago and it rebills like clockwork every year. It is $600 and is now totally useless. In fact i have just spent 7 hours over the last month, on the phone and sending e-mails to try to get the recurring billing stopped. Its a fucking joke, they make it as hard as possible to cancel. So i charged it back and told them to get their act together and sort it out. Spend you money in other ways Yahoo is no longer worth the investment.

This is probably true for adult sites, but it is still probably worth it for non-adult sites. The fee is only $200 for non-adult.
