A Lieutenant in the Navy is an 0-3 and a Captain in the Army is an 0-3...same pay grade...same rank...but with different designations.

Still a Ranger Sergeant and a basic Infantry Sergeant are both in the same branch (Army). To me it seems that a Ranger Sergeant would get paid better then a Basic Sergeant.

Thats the thing that I don't understand.

I see what you are saying. I found a list of them on the internet just awhile ago.

They recieve the same base pay. As does a second class petty officer cook on a carrier (or doing shore duty for that matter) slinging ham on raision bread sandwiches.

Other things come in to play in different scenarios - hazardous duty pay / flight pay / submarine pay, etc. etc. but base pay between this E-5 and that E-5 are the same.

The basic pay grades and rank are the same...but all Rangers are Airborne and recieve in addition to their base pay...jump pay/hazardous duty pay. Also as has been pointed out...there can be other additions to base pay. Off base housing..separate RATS...TDY...Combat pay etc.

Not necessarily when they are made a W-1...but ultimately I think they are required to get a degree.

The son of one of my old military friends was an E-6 ranger with six years in the Rangers when he applied for and was accepted to rotary wing school. He only had an Associate degree when he gradutated and became a W-1. He is currently a W-3 rotary wing instructer...but I have not asked about his education level since he was a W-1.

ahhhh...
CNN staged a mock "Liberation" of Jessica Lynch to pull one over on the dullards they manipulate. Fortunatly they were exposed but played down the entire affair.

Also, three major newpapers were banned by AP and Reuters for editing their articles about 8 months ago.

and I will go outside and play, why don't you go look up the meaning of 'ambiguity' and then drink the Javex under the sink - it's good for u!

also - reference was to the big Lebowski :1orglaugh

Hmm...one network and three print outlets out of literally hundreds...gasp. I saw the movie kid...now wipe your snotty little nose...and go play with the other kiddies...kid. By the way it was not a "mock" up...but was SOP...for the military.

Were the people dressed like engine blocks, or was just one engine block killed, and two engine blocks wounded? If the latter, then that must have been some kind of car to have three engines, maybe that's why it was going so fast.

In a 2003 friendly-fire incident involving Italians, American soldiers in northern Iraq shot at a car carrying the Italian official heading up U.S. efforts to recover Iraq's looted antiquities. Pietro Cordone, the top Italian diplomat in Iraq, was unhurt, but his Iraqi translator was killed.

Let me ask this of everyone posting their oppinion on here about this very unfortunate situation. WERE ANY OF YOU ACTUALLY FUCKING STANDING THERE? NO! THEN SHUT THE HELL UP!

It's a friggin war zone over there. If someone in uniform, carrying guns, or sitting in an armored vehicle (tank doubtful) (see also beat up Nisan with a 50cal. strapped to the roof) is waving at me to stop my car I am stopping my damn car! Especially if I am an educated person who had seen for the past year that troops US or not have been shooting anything or anyone who appears to be a threat. What were the troops supposed to do wait for the car to run them over or better get to the check point and explode? If you were there and had full knowledge of the many ways the Insurgents were willing to use while trying to kill you and their number one method was a CAR BOMB you would have pulled the damn trigger too. Even if you are a bleeding heart liberal who claims to be a pacifist and that war is not the answer or killing is not the answer. If it is your ass or theirs you are pulling the trigger or you are DEAD. Frankly I think you should all go over there for just one week and see what choice you make. If you are as much of the pacifists as you claim to be then well like Forest Gump said, "That's one less to worry about!? :321GFY

Seems to me the US was trying to make the damn car stop and they refused. Thus, they open fire.

You honestly belive in that...

BTW a top dog of the Italian secret services was killed (it seems he used his life to protect the news reporter..RIP! ) and this story is far from having the proper atenttion it deserves...imagine how many anonymous nobodys get killed "by mistake"... :2 cents:
