I used to think statsremote was pricey until I realised the amount of fixup work they must need to do for every update. $359.40 per year is not going to break the bank... or is it???

Your "I am going to write a better program! I am starting RIGHT NOW!" thread is laughable.

I actually didn't bother to re-signup with statsremote when they switched billers; that was a while back, circumstances have changed, so this thread has inspired me to have another look. Your bashing just got them another customer. :1orglaugh

I could say a lot more to this but I bite my tongue :)

Hey, No offense dude.. I just think you could charge a little less

and as far as Rowan's comment, I never claimed anything more than creating a similar program :2 cents:

"Remote Stats", Exactly what it is.

I was going to call it Stats Remote 1.0 before I knew your service even existed, so I had to re-name it out of basic respect :2 cents:

Should I program something to view stats for all the huge affiliate programs all at once, after you store your login:password info into the app?

Would anyone buy it? I'd probably sell it for $20 bucks a copy

So, you got the idea from a thread about our software but wanted to call the software StatsRemote before you knew our service existed? :1orglaugh

BTW I guess some people here remember what happened when another guy released a software called RemoteStats about a year ago :winkwink:

Anyway, as I said in the other thread... good luck :)

willow 03-03-2005 11:09 AM

Sounds secure.

Chris 03-03-2005 11:14 AM

hmm
a few people have attempted to make there own " stats remote " and even offered em for free
every single one of them are no longer arond .. even after giving the service away for free

I dont think you can make a stable stats remote clone in VB

tranza 03-03-2005 12:05 PM

Well, good luck bro...

Well? All hat and no cattle?

Snake Doctor 03-05-2005 11:37 AM

I used to spend the first hour of my day, everyday, logging into sponsor's sites and checking my stats....writing down numbers etc etc
Then 3 or 4 times per month I'd have to go in and write down all the $$ amounts and signup numbers month-to-date to figure out how I was trending for the month and whether or not it was better or worse than last month.

It was quite the chore.

With stats remote I get all the numbers right in front of me with one click...and I can compare them to last month....this month last year....I can compare today to last Saturday...and the Sat before that....etc etc etc

The one thing I wish they had was a server based version installed on my server....so I could login from anywhere and see all of my numbers.

Snake Doctor 03-05-2005 11:47 AM

Oh, I forgot to make my comment about the price.

Obviously the time it saves me is well worth the $30 a month....hell that's just over $1 an hour for each hour it saves me compared with my routine before I got it.

The only other program I've seen with a similar service was revstats...and they charge the same price for up to 25 programs and more if you have more than 25 accounts that you need checked.

I do agree that the stats remote guys are probably making a fortune....at LEAST 1000 webmasters rebilling at $30 per month for a program that's probably not that hard to write/maintain. (in relation to the income it generates for them)
BUT they were first to market with their idea and there's obviously a huge demand for the product they offer.

Well, if it wasn't that hard to write/maintain there would be other programs like StatsRemote. I know that quite a few people tried to develop similar services but so far nobody succeeded... and I'm not only talking about the people that announced it on GFY and failed or the people that stole from us (not the actual code) and lost their credit card processing and domain.

If you run a service like StatsRemote there's a lot more than adding/updating sponsors which is already a lot of work.

I'm starting to wonder who's behind that nick...

keyboard warrior 03-05-2005 05:36 PM

A lot of sponsors are doing daily stats in e-mails
once they all do this there will be no need for a remote stats program.

woj 03-05-2005 05:36 PM

100 stats remote clones...

pxxx 03-05-2005 05:40 PM

This guy is seriously a fucking idiot.

pood 03-05-2005 05:52 PM

no one will provide you with our login infos.

statsremote is reliable, $300 is fucking nothing. if you can't cover that, quit now

Persius 03-05-2005 05:55 PM

lmaoooooooooooooooooooooo!

I guess you never used StatsRemote. Even if all sponsors out there sent stats by email, I'm sure we wouldn't lose a single member because of that.

I'm not saying that there isn't ANY work involved....I'm just looking at this from a business owner's point of view.

A full time programmer (or two) plus customer service reps to handle billing issues and dumb questions from members in order to bring in 30....60...maybe 90K a month in revenue is a pretty high margin business.
Maybe I'm underestimating the amount of staff you need but alot of this can be outsourced offshore as well.

You probably will have some serious competition in the future (although I doubt from the tool that started this thread)
Similar to all the people jumping on the affiliate software bandwagon lately. (MPA, NATS, Executive Stats + God knows how many others)

swedguy 03-06-2005 03:37 AM

For $20 you would offer weekly updates for life to 1000's of sponsors? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Good luck :winkwink:
