Well I wasn't going to comment on the subject you brought up in the other thread. But I thought on it abit and sure I will comment.

And all I can say is this. It isn't up to me or you wether there is copyright infringement being done. Thats between fortunepussy.com and persiankitty.com. Alot of pissing matches on these boards are caused by someone publicly saying some shit about another when it doesn't even concern them.

*LOL* hell I could come out and say my site looks like PK in a way aswell as 100 of other. Just the same as your site looks like 100s of other CJ sites.

So unless it deals directly with you. I wouldn't cast stones. And if that comment was attempt to remove the link to fortunepussy from my sig sorry. I will state it here I am a damn proud reviewer for fortunepussy.com and will keep it there.

I made the comment as a sugestion for you to look into. Your reaction kinda makes me think something is indeed fishy there.

Obviously you havn't sceen sleazydream if you think it looks like other CJ sites.

Most large TGP and other similar type sites STRIVE for orgionality in layout and design. When I see someone I like, respect, and have a working realtionship with get ripped off, I make mention of it. Just as I would hope they would do for me.

And yes I have seen your site a few times. Even emailed you a few times aswell. But like you just mentioned. I hope that others would tell me if somebody was copying my site. well instead of trashing That thread you could have emailed pk and notified her, or email me or Q me, or Even started another thread that would have been more inline with the subject.

People need to seriously chill with all this bullshit.... ya can't copyright a fucking table dimension, nor where they're put on a page. For that matter, ya can't copyright an *idea* either. So all the people bitching about "somebody's got the same layout as somebody else!" are doing nothing more than wasting time and energy.

Christ... look at how similar all the paysites out there are. Sure they all basically have different graphics... but do you not see a similar layout theme goin' on? A box, usually rectangular, full of porn, promising all kinds of shit, leading to more pages with boxes full of porn promising all kinds of shit, and eventually reaching it's destination at a signup page.

Gosh.... the guy who made the first one should be bitching up a storm!

And I'd tend to be a little more upset about a paysite copy that actually HAS a layout that matters, than some bullshit tgp link list page. Fuck.. it's a page... maybe with a graphic logo at the top (about a 50 / 50 chance I'd say, and then probably a sponsor banner) with a bunch of fucking links down the center. Or maybe to both sides... or maybe it has TWO tables... uh oh..... 12 point font in bold!

Some days ago I saw a movie gallery layout i had built in the past submitted to me! I felt very bad. First time I saw someone taking exactly what i built and using it. I wouldn't mind if someone was influenced from me, after all. But takinn 100% of your work and use it like yours is not cool at all.

Design of freesites is extremely important. Even the slightest changes in tables, fonts, colors, ad positions, etc. can change traffic productivity dramatically...

There aren't too many freesites that made it big w/o some kind of unique design strategy -- worldsex was obviously one site that lacked any design ;) haha... but IMHO most everyone either got lucky stumbling onto a winning formula and ran with it, was first to market, or busted ass finding a winning strategy/design. If a site is more about personality, like Greenguy for instance -- I don't think it's possible to copy ;) Haha...

They stole the jump menu, the font of the listings and even most of the banners can also be found on pk.

Not that I really care, but there is a huge relation between the two sites.

You can't "steal" individual fonts, table widths, colors, or anything, but taken as a whole you can definitely steal a site design.

One thing to remember is that smaller TGPs rely on other TGPs and similar sites for trades. If someone is sceen as ripping off another site, and especially one as WELL KNOW and respected as persian kitty it can cast a bad light over that person and hurt his reputation trading with other people who know, like, respect etc Persian kitty. Even if there is no intent to deceive, if the perception of it is there (and I wasn't the only one to see it as others did as well) it can hurt a small TGP in ways he cann't even know about. I made the post as a sugestion to help, not to hurt.

Okay... if somebody just flat out rips a site of the Net and puts their name at the top.... that's bad. I'll gladly jump on that wagon. You should be able to write your own html, your own java, your own whatever it takes to make YOUR OWN pages.

But how can you possibly recognize somebody's table placement or text layouts from one to the next? Do you actually devote that much time in your day to comparing link sites? You guys must do a hell of a lot of surfin'.... cuz I've seen hundreds of TGP sites as well as all kinds of other sites... and aside from obvious taylored customizations like Thumbzilla's monster eyes or Hun's big scary guy with the axe or something, how can you say "This guy's got his links layed out the same way as the Hun!" and actually expect a serious response?

So what if someone puts 8 links in a table, three tables side by side, 4 rows deep, in 10 point Verdana font just like that other guys site! What damn difference does it make? If the guy has stolen your content (meaning pictures, video, text stories, or whatnot) or your graphics... then that's one thing.

But now you're essentially saying I can't park my new Chryslers in my showroom the same way you park your Toyotas in yours. And I think that is ridiculous & laughable. Because no one is going to take it seriously.

You are absolutly right about the surfer not caring, but survival for the vast majority of TGPS depends on 1. galleries and more importantly 2. Traffic trades. Galleries can be taken from a variety of places if a site doesn't have the reputation to get them for themselves (not that this is right either but it happens).
Traffic trades rely in part on reputation. Traffic trades bring in surfers. You need surfers to survive, and doing something that may be perceived ( and not necesarly is) wrong could hurt one's persuit of traffic.

I think this is why people are saying it's a PK ripoff. We don't surf or compare the look or source HTML of a lot of linklists. But we all know what PK's site looks like and we all identified that site as a PK ripoff at first glance.

If we had to spend hours comparing the HTML source you'd be right, we'd have no argument. But when it's obvious to a bunch of people right away that the site is a copy and we all point to the same site as the source of the copy, maybe there is something to the fact that it's just a little too similar to PK's distinct look and feel to be coincidence?
