I used to think like that too... but when I could finally afford to buy the biggest reason why I bought a condo is cuz I am a bachelor, I dont want to be living in a big ass house in a residential neighbourhood all by myself -- plus I love being in the middle of the action, I go downstairs and everything is within a 2 minute walking distance. Plus don't have to worry about upkeeping a home... when i go on a trip I just lock my door and forget about it till I get back. I have lots of time to live the married life... one day i will own a BIG ass home, or two

i personally LOVE the yard work...nothing like spending all day in the yard making your place prettier.

speaking of which, i need to rake some old leaves up so I can build a fire pit in the back yard...another nice thing about having a house, i can build a fire pit in the back yard and have friends over to hang out by the fire while we BBQ

I know a lot of people who sell their houses with front and back yards and buy condos!

Condos are great if you don't have kids, travel a lot, don't want to bother with yardwork, maintenance, want secured buidling/parking, many have stores in them, concierge services, doormen, etc.

My parents are thinking of selling their house in the burbs and getting a condo in ATL.
