That is a myth.

Moderate overcooking causes toughening of the meat, shrinkage and loss of flavor, while extreme overcooking may cause the meat to fall apart or become mushy.

Most chefs don't know how to prepare a 3+ pound lobster without over cooking the outer meat.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 03-03-2005 04:58 AM

Bubba RIP

NEWS FLASH: Bubba the big ass lobster didn't survive his trip to the zoo.

They should let him go. Christ, he must be 150+ years old and probably loves the open sea more than anything.

Little late for that...

PITTSBURGH -- Bubba, the huge lobster that got front-page treatment after a seafood store spared his life, died Wednesday afternoon at a Pittsburgh aquarium.

The 23-pound lobster was estimated to have been old enough to have survived two world wars and Prohibition, not to mention the supper table.

He was pulled from the waters off Nantucket, Mass., and shipped to a Pittsburgh fish market. Based on how long it typically takes a lobster to reach eating size -- about five to seven years per pound -- Bubba may have been 100 years old.

On Tuesday, store owner Bob Wholey gave the lobster to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.

The cause of death was unknown.

Poor Bubba

Cause of death was that he was put into an aquarium.

Anybody who has studied lobsters knows that they're very complicated creatures and the reason why they're not farmed like trout for instance, is because it's just too difficult (they're breeding habits and development are extremely complex and take years to reach maturity; not to mention their sensitivity to their environment - changes in water temp and salinity and a myriad of other things found in the water can lead to their death quite easily) and costly.

RIP Bubba
