issues with windows XP loading
im having some issues with my desktop.. it does not want to load windows XP
cpl times ive turned on my monitor to find my desktop is frozen.. yet i can move the mouse as normal. just cant click, open, or close anything. when i reboot (hard reboot) it will post and go thru the mem check and list my HDDs and such but when it kicks over to load windows.. nothing. ive let it sit for 5 mins or so like that in case it was running slow.. nada.. sometimes i will have to do that 6 or 7 times before it will finally load XP.. ive run virus checks they came back clean, ive flashed the bios on my MB, run spyware checks.. only thing i havent done yet is run maxtors HDD utility.. may have a bad sector.. ive checked my cards to make sure they are seated.. got plenty of cooling in the case.. gig of ram is fine... anyhoo has anyone else had this issue? |

boot off your xp cd, choose the repair from console, choose what installation, enter your admin password if you have one, if not just hit enter. Then type chkdsk /r and let it run through that. Sometimes that fixed some problems like that.
