Sponsor discussion -Traffic leaks on their tours

This is something I am not sure has been discussed before but I see it as an important issue...

First of all I am in no way bashing the programs I mention in this post, I make alot of money with them and the purpose of this post is to spark a discussion and maybe help us affiliates make more money.

The Issue:
I noticed that many sponsors have an apparent traffic leak on their sites whereby if a surfer that is considering joining a site clicks on the "Members" button/link instead of the "Join Now" button then we lose the tracking on the next page after they are denied access.

For example on the Topbucks ( eg http://teensforcash.com/?nopop=1 ) and Nastydollars (eg http://www.cumfiesta.com/main.htm?id=&p=clean) tours if a surfer you send them clicks on the "Members" button the tracking id is lost on the next page (I am sure a significant percentage of surfers click the Members button at least 5% ? maybe more, what do you think?)

Some paysites you are sending traffic to like http://www.amateur-facials.com (from afdollars, another great sponsor ) dont even have a subsequent page if a surfer clicks on the Members button and doesnt have a password.

The Fix:
I figure if all sponsors could somehow still give us credit on the next page for surfers that click on the Members button then it only makes sense we would see a higher conversion rate hence more money in the affiliates pocket. This "Members Button credit" feature would be a great way for sponsors to differentiate themselves and demonstrate that they are attempting to credit us as much as they can for the traffic we send them.

Even if making this simple change on the tours increases my sales by 1% that would mean $1000s of dollars a year to me which would add up over the years.

See for yourself:
Take a look at the sponsors you send the most traffic to and see if you get credit on the next page for people that click on the members button.

And if you are a sponsor that does give credit on the subsequent page for people that do click on the member button on your tours please post in this thread and I will definitely add your sites to my network.

Discuss among yourselves...

Im not sure if I 100% follow you, but if the sponsor is using cookies to track the surfer, if the surfer clicked on the members button and got a unorthrised page, even if they signed up, wouldnt the affiliate still get credited anyway?

nice find, but even if that's true, I don't think Nasty Dollars will change that only because of your thread

well topbucks and nastydollars actually change the linkcode to their house accounts... I guess I should have mentioned that in my initial post.

Well I agree that they may not get rid of the traffic leak just because of this one post (I am sure they are making alot of money from it) but I think any sponsor that does give credit on the subsequent page for people that click on the Members button should post in this thread cuz it is a great way for them to differentiate themselves.

u know, u would have less traffic leaks if u host ur own tours. infact, u can even control ur own exits.

Great point, I think it may be worth hosting my own tours for the sites I send the most traffic to to see if there is a difference in conversion ratio.

This is still something that I would like the sponsors to consider changing as I am sure many newbie surfers click on the Members button when they want to join a site instead of the Join Now button.

Or you can speak to your sponsor and have him set up your exits and how you want the tour. We often do this with larger affiliates, we can send them there exit traffic anywhere they want even another sponsor

Thanks Babagirls I am beginning ot think the sponsors dont want to address this issue because it is a significant source of income for them.

C'mon sponsors, the first sponsor to post in this thread (either good or bad news) I promise I am going to push their sites like crazy until they are in my top ten sponsor list (as long as they convert ).

your welcome

this may very well be just another way that sponsors could grab the cash without actually shaving. just like min. payouts, if someone pushes their sites and they barely convert and the affiliate stops pushin them, they never get that money, and the sponsor never has to pay that balance out which means more money for them.

its alot of the little things that can add up to alot of extra $$ for the sponsor. but if it wasnt for the affilates pushin them, they'd never make nearly as much as cash.

i hope sponsors will start to wake up and stop bitting the hands that feed them.

I agree Babagirls, I feel no animosity to the sponsors, I would just like to get credit as much as possible for all the sales I am sending them. I am sure they make a killing on typeins where they dont have to pay anyone a commission.

What about sponsors that have those free e-mail addy right on their first page of the tour! This is another major traffic leak IMO.

Yes that could be considered a traffic leak but at least that is apparent to you before you start sending them traffic. I guess they have to make money too especially the ones that pay-per-signup. I am concerned mostly with the surfer that is ready to join and clicks on the members button instead of the Join now button because I dont think its fair for sponsors to replace your linkcode with their house account code when people get denied access.

Nice sponsor! I am signing up with http://TeenHitSquad.com too. Its nice to see a sponsor make an attempt to credit you whenever they can. I think it makes for a much more profitable, longterm business for both the affiliates and sponsors.

I agree... there are some sponsors who would be getting alot of sales from me if they only cleaned up their tours. I dont mind making less on the payout if its a clean tour.

what amazes me are the amateurs who have programs, some have good sites, but as well as all the buttons, the often have a links page, with a ton of outgoing links, then post on here saying "promote my new site" I always say, what do I get if my surfer clicks on one of those banners in you links page or even front page

what I would also say is that its worth letting a sponsor know if you have found a traffic leak, as they may have just overlooked something they have done, but doubt nasty dollars would even reply to your email

Its funny that you mention that... there are tons of amateur solo girl sites I signed up under ccbill to pormote hoping that the linkcode I got would be to a clean tour only to be disappointed by all the traffic leaks.. one more site in my CCbill admin area that I'll never use!

Can't say for all, but we are also using cookies to track the surfers. So once the surfer was reffered to our of our sites (tour pages, fhg's etc) with an affiliate CCBill code, it (the code) stores in the cookie. The surfer may even close the browser or re-boot his computer, and type in the URL manually, but if he decided to join, the saved affiliate code will be extracted from a cookie and will be sent to CCBill signup form.

Personally I thought that all the serious sponsors do the same.

Agreed, but if you would have read the thread, you would have seen that he was talking about sponsors who change the code

"well topbucks and nastydollars actually change the linkcode to their house accounts... I guess I should have mentioned that in my initial post."

actually, i shoulda said that the traffic leaks will be on ur responsibility and not the paysite owners.
a click is a click. and if it comes from search engines, they are more valable. so keep them longer if possible.

That's a very serious statement. If this is true, such an info may completely rune topbucks and nastydollars business.

Well "ruining them" might be going a bit far but it definitely is an issue when they must be having 1000s of newbie surfers a day clicking on the Members button.

Hi cyberxxx,

thanks for posting, I visited your site: http://angels.xxx-ring.com/, clicked on the Members button and you too have a blank "Authorization Required" page that comes up after access is denied. Now you may still be tracking the cookie but all my point is in that case is why have a blank page when you can have a page that tells them "You need a username and password to enter this site, click here to get yours now"... a blank page requires a person to hit the back button, not the best thing to be asking them to do when you are trying to make it as simple as possible for a newbie surfer to sign up for your site.

There even one that put a link to his yahoo group (a free site) right on his first page tour.

You get a lot of people who only want huge PPS numbers, and don't look at anything but the PPS figure. So, programs give them "what they want"...but the programs have to make money. So, they go high PPS, and shave or whatever (shaving equivalents) because of the guys sending traffic who seem to be happier with this model. There is no free lunch - you can't have huge revshare percentages or huge PPS numbers and not get some sort of shaving. Of course, the problem is that those who want honest programs above all else get stuck the same as those who don't. But most in this business really don't even know enough to figure out what's going on with their traffic, sign-ups, payouts, etc. so programs will go on making "great" offers and delivering what they (actually) deliver.

I get the feeling if someone offered a $15 PPS which converted 1:5, didn't shave, no consoles, etc, etc, etc most people still wouldn't promote them (even though the actual numbers would make it the most profitable site to promote, period) because the PPS whores would only say "I'm not sending any traffic to some cheap assholes who only want to pay me $15 for my traffic".

Thanks for your comments. We have launched our program just a 3 days ago, so I had no time to set up such a page, but I will definitely make it.

P.S. Will be very greteful if you tell me how to do that via .htaccess file because I don't want to kick my admin right now (he is already sleeping I think )

i agree. its funny how people are so quick to fuck themselves over and only look at the figures (pps amounts) rather than take a closer look at how it would benefit them more. great post!

Hi, I'm not PornHero but this might help

Add the following to your htaccess

ErrorDocument 401 http://yoursite.com/custom401joinpage.html

Might be a good idea to have a customer service link on your page you redirect to for the members that really have lost their pass.

Yeah, and they are definitely not the only 2 sponsors doing exactly that.

Ours works the same so even if they do click thru to the members area and then leave the site the cookie is still valid.
