:mad FUCKING REGISTERFLY!!! anyone deal with these assholes? redirected ALL my domains!!!

Anyone ever have their shit locked up by a registrar before? Register Fly says my account was 'risky' and locked me out from switching registrars and have all my domains pointing to a search page.

I have to just sit and wait for an email because no one can help me on the phone or live support. Everyone I talk to is VERY rude and says I'll have to wait for the email. Funny thing is the fuckers didn't email me before they took my sites down. I had to wake up and find them like that.

Now, before anyone talks shit, there was NOTHING illegal or even borderline on any page of ANY of my sites. It was all just content and ads from large sponsors like ARS and the like.

So, bottom line for me is - FUCK REGISTERFLY!!!

That's what I wrote in the email I was forced to send them.

The domains are just generic adult names. Nothing over the line by any stretch. The only thing I can think of is that some of the whois info. I used is fake but is that a reason to kill all the domains without any warning or at least an email?

They don't care what you say. Have your lawyer contact them immediately, that tends to get their attention.

Registerfly are assholes when it comes to support. I was being double billed for their ExpireFish service. I tried to contact them and they kept telling me to cancel one of their accounts. It didn't seem to matter how many times i told them that i only had one account, they just did not seem to understand. So i cancelled my account and both bills stopped appearing on my statement. Odd, considering they insisted i had 2 accounts over and over again.

That was the first person I called but he's in court today. I'm not sure what he could do for me TODAY anyway. Lawyers are good at getting things done but usually at the expense of time. His methods would be by the book of course. I'm ready to drive to registerfly with an automatic weapon. I just want this shit over. Every hour is money I lose.

I once tried to have a conversation with their supportcrew. I must say they didn't help me one bit. So I decided to take my domains elsewhere.

Support is clearly outsourced. Here is a funny snipet of my convo. earlier.

ziggy: before I buy a domain for a year
ziggy: I want to know that I will be able to have that domain for a year
ziggy: see how fundamental that is to my purchasing decision?

wayne: The domain can be registered for one year
wayne: You can use it for one yar
wayne: After that you have to renew the domain

If I don't laugh at the situation I will start punching walls.

Very good advice. Call them and ask for a manager. Then ask for his manager. Ask him for a contact in their legal department that your attorney's letters should be addressed to.

The the time that gets out of your mouth, your domains will be back.

Fake whois is considered to be a crime, I am sure you will hear more soon.

Wow. Scary Seriously though. When I say fake, I mean just a number or two off. It's not like I put the address of Shea Stadium as mine. The names and contact info. is all real so if they had any doubts they could have contacted me.

I know it doesn't make it right but come on. Everyone does it and I seem to be the only one with no sites today. I still don't get how they could do this with no warning or notification.

I droppped them a long time ago when they fucked up my renewals. I paid for renewing a bunch of domains. I left for vacation and when I got back, they hadn't renewed them so they expired. So they ended up charging me for the renewal, which didn't happen and the fee for re-registering expired domains.

It is not "illegal" to have fake whois. It's just against ICANN's rules and you can have it yanked. This doesn't sound like a case like that.

If they were my domains, I'd go absolutely ape shit as I'd be losing a year's salary in a day.

Keep us posted. I cannot stand regfly--double billers!

too bad. I just got an email from Directnic about one of my domains expiring in three days. I just clicked the button in the email, made a few more clicks on their site, and voila. Everything is done.

I like convenience like that. Directnic emails the SHIT out of you about your expiring domains. If you forget, it's your own fault.

Come on now is fucking right.

I understand the need to verify things, but this is a little strange.

They did this because two credit cards were used to purchase domains and one was in a diff. name. than in my profile because it was my partners card.

So here's their procedure...

They accept the card, charge it. Register my domains. Allow me to set everything up and a week later not only do they re direct the domains purchased with the second card but ALL my domains in that account.

They also do all this without ever contacting me. The lady I spoke to said, that's our policy because if the person who bought the domains is legit then they will contact us.

Is this really the right way to do this? What about a contact before the domains are killed. Even 24 hours. I still can't believe they operate like this. It actually should never get to this point. If they are so concerned over fraud their should be a system in place that doesn't allow the domains to be purchased in the first place under an existing account.

Oh well. Crisis over. Now what registrar to I switch to this afternoon?

If you can verify (stats etc.) to show an average income by day, sue them for it.

The fees will prolly eat up any money you might get, but I would think it's worth it, to show them how fucked they are. Are they ICANN accredited? if so complain to them about it.

If he had FAKE whois info then he clearly violated their T.O.S., I don't understand why he's so surprised.

It had NOTHING to do with the whois. In fact no one that I spoke to on the phone would give me their last name which made me ask why they expect everyone to give their full names to be listed on the web. The reply was simply "most people don't use their real names anyway"

Gotta love how they redirect the domains to make a few quick bucks

And some people even defend them

Registrars messing with domains at will is becoming a plague. Hardly anything any webmaster should be happy about

If you registered last week your domains will be in quarantine for another 50 days....:/

Otherwise - go for namecheap!

Registerfly's domain registrations are only tentative until a 30 day "probationary" sort of period passes. They'll register domains, but clearly reserve the right to terminate the registration for any reason (or without any reason) within 30 days, without any notice or recourse other than refunding your money. I don't think it's a good policy, but they are up front about it.

From http://registerfly.com/info/terms.php :

Quote:
15. Right Of Refusal:

We, in our sole discretion, reserve the right to refuse to register or reserve your chosen domain name or register you for other Registerfly.com service(s), or to delete your domain name within thirty (30) calendar days from receipt of your payment for such services. In the event we do not register or reserve your domain name or register you for other Registerfly.com service(s), or we delete your domain name or other Registerfly.com service(s) within such thirty (30) calendar day period, we agree to refund your applicable fee(s). You agree that we shall not be liable to you for loss or damages that may result from our refusal to register or reserve, or delete your domain name or register you for other Registerfly.com service(s)
