The surfer may even close the browser or re-boot his computer, and type in the URL manually, but if he decided to join, the saved affiliate code will be extracted from a cookie and will be sent to CCBill signup form.

Personally I thought that all the serious sponsors do the same.

We do the same thing at AAC, it's the only fair thing to do for our affiliates.

First of all I am in no way bashing the programs I mention in this post, I make alot of money with them and the purpose of this post is to spark a discussion and maybe help us affiliates make more money.

The Issue:
I noticed that many sponsors have an apparent traffic leak on their sites whereby if a surfer that is considering joining a site clicks on the "Members" button/link instead of the "Join Now" button then we lose the tracking on the next page after they are denied access.

For example on the Topbucks ( eg http://teensforcash.com/?nopop=1 ) and Nastydollars (eg http://www.cumfiesta.com/main.htm?id=&p=clean) tours if a surfer you send them clicks on the "Members" button the tracking id is lost on the next page (I am sure a significant percentage of surfers click the Members button at least 5% ? maybe more, what do you think?)

Some paysites you are sending traffic to like http://www.amateur-facials.com (from afdollars, another great sponsor :) ) dont even have a subsequent page if a surfer clicks on the Members button and doesnt have a password.

The Fix:
I figure if all sponsors could somehow still give us credit on the next page for surfers that click on the Members button then it only makes sense we would see a higher conversion rate hence more money in the affiliates pocket. This "Members Button credit" feature would be a great way for sponsors to differentiate themselves and demonstrate that they are attempting to credit us as much as they can for the traffic we send them. :2 cents:

Even if making this simple change on the tours increases my sales by 1% that would mean $1000s of dollars a year to me which would add up over the years.

See for yourself:
Take a look at the sponsors you send the most traffic to and see if you get credit on the next page for people that click on the members button.

And if you are a sponsor that does give credit on the subsequent page for people that do click on the member button on your tours please post in this thread and I will definitely add your sites to my network. :thumbsup

Discuss among yourselves...

Good topic and great discussion. I just wanted to address more of the sponsor side of things to consider here.

Out of the few surfers who try to click on the members area and then get a 401 page, most would click the back button to continue the tour. In these cases the original referring webmaster always gets the credit for the join.

Most 401 traffic is actually coming from webmasters who have password sites or people who post passwords in forums. Because programs like TopBucks do not allow password sites to participate in our program we deter them from linking to our member sections by having a house ID. We've recently done this as we went through a mass cancellation process of old members who got through the automated cancellation system. We have not finalized how we'll continue to handle the 401 page join link since we only have about 2 weeks of data from this in which we need to analyze in depth.

A very small % of join traffic comes through this method and the estimate of 5% is far off from our experience. Less then .5% actually join directly from a 401 page.

We appreciate your input and feel free to e-mail me directly if you have any questions.
