ZFreeHost

Anyone possibly have a list of domains being hosted there? Would make blacklisting the whole thing a lot easier.

Is it that bad?

I hear a lot of ppl complaining about their 404s, but we really NEVER got it, the 404 pages I mean. I wonder why.

I am sure that big webmasters would even pay for a list of domains which are hosted in zfreehost.

The people who uses their service are getting banned from tgps and those idiots still do not understand the fact that their domains will useless...

Although the majority of my sites are hosted on my own dedicated servers, I do use ZFREEHOST for some AVS sites and a couple of TGP's. I have yet to get a 404. Plus, the traffic I receive on my zfreehost accounts greatly out paces any free host and rivals the traffic I get on my dedicated sites. I know some people say zfreehost is crap, but so far they work for me.

if you look up "what is a 404?" in most computer books you will see that they refer to zfreehost as the best explanation

Check your cookies.

You'll have one from zfreehost... Zfreehost 404's the first incoming unique, and gives them a cookie... they probably do it with webmasters too.

Thus, after the first 404 (or cookie they gave ya) you wont see the 404's but everyone else will.

Clever isnt it? BLEAH

Oh yea. I figured as much about the cookies. I knew they were tracking initial hits somehow.

Would be nice to just be able to add a whole list of zfreehost domains to the blacklist and not have to worry about them, though.

I'm too lazy to check cookies after every gallery review.

I don't understand what the big deal is. So occasionally it goes 404. You can normally access the page on the second click. Have we gotten to the point that if we post a gallery on our FREE tgps and the surfer complains that we will suck up to them?

Just because the Hun does it doesn't mean everyone has to. Actually the Hun does it for a very good reason, that is how his site became famous in the first place.

But most other tgps haven't been around as long as his. Basically what it comes down to is there have been many free hosts that have gone way overboard with consoles and 404s.

Ok blacklist them, but this free host has a 404 which isn't splattered with links to every sponsor know to man, no conosoles, and you can click on the back button. See that button on the top left of the browser that say "back". I think most surfers know what that is.

Bottom line, stop babysitting your surfers. I would guess that at least 90% are over 18. So lets stop blacklisting and bashing freehosts unless they really deserve it!

No shit I'd rather list z-freehost than alot of the freehost's out there. At least they don't have headers over half the damn page.

Okay. Is this the part where I tell everyone else what to do on their sites?

If it is, let me know. I'll be more than happy to start.

Or you could just hit the back button and leave if you don't have an answer to my very simple question.

No this is the part where I am saying that I am tired of hearing about blacklisting free hosts just because they are free host. I use them along with many others and in my own personal opinion (because we all know I can't tell someone how to run their tgp - even when the rules totally suck and are too stringent) they save on b/w cost. Don't know about you but I don't mind saving money sometimes. Might be a good thing.

Hey Ammo I know you use them and so do I. I'm never going to ban somebody for using them but what webmasters don't realize is they are hurting themselves. When updating my site this week I had a ton of them go 404 on the first click. I don't have time to hit refresh and check them. I update my site between 5 and 7 in the morning and have a few hundred submissions to go through. If they work on the first click then I post them but if not they have just lost out.

Just a thought.

Ammo, way to go. It's about time someone speake highly of free hosts. It seems that they get pissed on more then anyone. Yes some are really bad and deserve to get shut down, but many are very good and provide a great service. So whats the big deal if they take 3-4 hits every few hundred. It's still alot cheaper then paying for bandwidth. Well I do both, I have a ton of paid hosted domains, and I still use free hosts as well. It all washes out in the end. I would like to give a thumbs up to some of the free hosts out there, especially the few that hang here at GFY...
WTG you guys

Well, most TGPs except for The Hun still accept Zfreehost...in fact, it's more accepted than just about any free host out there. But the few I have seen that blacklist it...do so by blocking their IP block. If you do that, you don't need a list of the actual domains they host.

Who said I'm bashing on freehosts?

I haven't stated an opinion one way or another about free hosts in general.

Thanks for the domains so far.

And that's true about IP blocking. But my script doesn't have a way to do that right now. Maybe I'll see if I can wing something together though.
