Read this is you have submitted with Chameleon Submitter...

I just submitted a gallery and some trojan got installed thanks to Internet Explorer that chameleon is using.

So check your computer. I got alot of shit installed. If you have a file named C:\news.exe, your computer is infected.

You do have a good argument, apple is the best choice, but I couldnt handle the huge change from PC unfortunately (, although the xp pro has ended my crashing days completely.

Geeze, every day? Where are you getting them from? Try the Microsoft anti-spyware program to keep them from being installed.

Run both. Spyware catches some stuff that AdAware doesn't catch.

Could you elaborate on this? Chamelone doesn't use "Internet Explorer", whatever that means. For the manual submits it does bring up YOUR version of I.E. to fill in the blanks. I don't see hows its possible tor Chamelon to create some new virus not ALREADY on your computer? Assuming its already on your computer though I can see how it would get propogated...

I think it was web.exe on my hit, not news.exe... so there could be others too.

Another thread, same issue...

Its also worth noting that if you set Firefox as your default browser like I do, then the Chamelon popups use Firefox instead of I.E. Useful when visiting strange porn sites.

It has to be said - a stupid thread full of stupid people.

Firstly if you picked up spyware then you're an idiot. It's fuck all to do with Chameleon and everything to do with being too stupid to setup IE properly and download updates when they're issued.

Secondly for those confused about adaware et al...99% of the stuff it lists is simply cookies. If you dont want 3rd party cookies learn how to change very basic privacy settings in IE. It's not hard. For the 1% that isn't cookies see the first point above.

Heh... NIS did prevent it for me and it was stuff a lot worse than cookies :P

Chameleon is mentioned because it's on a TGP gallery submission page that Chameleon goes to.

1: This isnt normal spywares, its trojans that got installed due to bugs in Internet Explorer.

2: I dont think .exe files in C:\ is normal cookies.
