Notebook question
Ok who the hell makes the best notebook? #1 for reliability, value, battery life, ease of upgrading etc. I want a HP but I heard Toshiba was better but that was from a place that sold only Toshiba, so of course they will say that. Did I mention price. I want something for about $1800 cdn or Appx. $1200 US. It must have DVD and CDW is not important to me.
Experienced notebook users please reply! Thanks Wiz ------------------ Eraser Ca$h Surfer Cover there tracks and you get $35 per sale!! Tons of free content, get paid every week, url tracking |

I heard good opinions about Dell as well.
But nevertheless, Toshiba is one of the best. |

Amputate, I realize you think you know everyting but for $1200 I can get a Hp 950 mhz, 15 gb hard and dvd. I should of made it clear that only people that know what they are talking about reply!
Price is not an issue but I do not need an all out notebook for my third system. This is for the wife. Corvett, There is a sony vaio on sale with dvd and cdw 128 mb ram 15 gb hard for just over $1350. Not a bad price. ------------------ Eraser Ca$h Surfer Cover there tracks and you get $35 per sale!! All I buy is Dell stuff and their notebooks are generally accepted as being among the BEST!
Here's a great little SECRET to share with all of you... Go to the Dell Factory Outlet and you'll save about 20-30% PLUS get a like new Dell warranty and support. All the best deals on servers, notebooks and PCs are generally to be had on that site. Check it out! http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfo/misc/segmenter_dfo.htm Good Luck Brad ------------------ |

The dells look good. Hp has a nice look as well. Toshiba is kinda an ugly duckling but I guess it is all about performance.
Thanks again. Any more ideas? ------------------ Eraser Ca$h Surfer Cover there tracks and you get $35 per sale!! Tons of free content, get paid every week, url tracking |

When I went shopping for "the best" notebook a few years ago, that is precisely what I went looking for. I spent $5600 on a notebook. It was better than "the best". It blew away anythng you'd find on a shelf anywhere. That's my idea of "the best". When I restored my '89 Iroc Z... I replaced every single nut and fucking bolt in the entire car. Every piece of glass. The weatherstripping.... the emblems, ordered new from the factory... new tires... new ground effects... new brakes, shocks, battery, alternator, starter, radiator, headers, exhaust system, struts, tint, heat shields, headliner, sound system, custom seats, paint..... everything. I spent a fucking fortune. It's better than new. It's "the best". I don't compromise quality on ANYTHING. Ever. That... is my idea of "the best". And nothing short will fucking do. So.... I'll go along with a misunderstanding... but don't question my intelligence. Because you don't have a clue as to what my intellect is capable of. |

Thinkpad t series rulez. All your dell plastic shit will be falling apart in a year - my t20 after 1.5 years of 15 hours a day use is like new... Thinkpad = titanium cover, xcellent xtrahard plastic, good tft matrix, very very good keyboard and more. Sure video is not the most kickass, but if you are lookin' for durability - all dells and sonys are just plastic toys. Expensive toys. That was my 2 cents

I've worked with just about all of them. Toshiba (IMHO) sucks. Compaq (who are now HP) were pretty good, but HP are just OK, not fantastic - and I don't know if HP have infected their newly acquired Compaq division with their OK'ness. Gatweay just plain sucks, that goes for everything they make. IBM laptops are not that great either, when you talk about price. They have good deals on some - but you get more laptop for your buck with ANYONE else...
DELL, Inspiron. This is my favorite. I have one, and I have bought ten of them for the bank in the last six months (we are phasing out a few older IBMs). I have no problems with them, they are the right price, and they run great. Just my six cents... ------------------ The Scarab TGP Fuckit - why am I in here and not working? |

I am also not speaking without experience - I actually work full time in the field and the side-business is just to pay for toys. I am the network engineer/administrator for a bank and we have lots of laptop users. (auditors, executives, my guys, etc) people who have to move around to the branches a lot... Like I said - just my opinion... ------------------ The Scarab TGP Fuckit - why am I in here and not working? |
