Question for SEO experts

if i have a page like domain.com/folder1/folder2/ and i want to put a link on this page to domain.com/folder1/folder3 what is the best:

1. to put the relative link "../folder3"
2. to use the absolute link http://domain.com/folder1/folder3

also, is google bot folowing the links like "../../folderx"?

I would think most bots are smart enough to convert a relative url to an absolute one. If they can't, that SE is not worth bothering with.

I think that this is a good question.
I think the consensus among most is that absolute links are best.
One reason for this is that it makes it harder for others hijacking your site by completely copying it.
I unfortunately use relative links cos I am lazy.
Here is some thoughts from a seo guy worth reading.
