Actually why wouldnt he?....it is a server issue.
Our main gallery domain galleries.adult.com gets round robined from 4 dother servers. Have a look at this while we are still trying to figure out what is wrong with server number 1.
http://galleries1.adult.com/reality/...wm=MjAxOjE1Ojc
http://galleries2.adult.com/reality/...wm=MjAxOjE1Ojc
http://galleries3.adult.com/reality/...wm=MjAxOjE1Ojc
http://galleries4.adult.com/reality/...wm=MjAxOjE1Ojc
Server 1 is getting hammered real hard or is dead...I am not sure yet the server guys are figuring that one out. But depending on when you hit the gallery you may get that server which would cause the 404....now our 404's are all supposed to be setup to go to 10dollar sluts, the R sync appeared to have stopped half way through on the last run so when you hit server 3 or 4 when browsing that batch of galleries it would display the 404 page...which again is 10dollarsluts. Everything will be fixed real soon.

Umm dont shoot the messenger dude.

But what i would like to know is why is the 404 traffic going to the signup page not looked tracked at all and all the join page details were on a set of scripts called /ignore/systemwide/

* just curious ..

Problems like this should be rare, but perhaps they need to consider writing a 404 handler that tries to figure out if there's a refid in the URL, and redirect to an appropriately credited 404 page.

zentz 02-23-2005 11:59 AM

funny thread

tranza 02-23-2005 12:24 PM

So fucking banned...

Lensman 02-23-2005 12:53 PM

Looks like galleries3 server is the problem, we are taking it out of the round robin rotation, that should take care of it.

Snake 03-31-2005 07:04 AM

Well it's over a month later and again I'm getting the redirection to 10dollarsluts.com

http://galleries.adult.com/reality/m...?wm=NTM0OjY6Nw

More interesting is when you can actually see the gallery and click one of the images at the bottom of the page, i.e. "Diane-Fucked" "Wendy-Fucked" etc. you get sent to the same page, but the NATS code changes to the base or initial setup code for NATS to "MDowOjc"

So my affiliate code on this gallery of http://ww2.milfcruiser.com/track/NTM0OjY6Nw/ changes to:
http://ww2.milfcruiser.com/track/MDowOjc/

and all sales made to the latter code are not credited...

glitches happen. best bet as mentioned before is to contact them directly

Corona 03-31-2005 07:24 AM

That is strange. I see his NATS code all the way through.

Chimmy 03-31-2005 07:25 AM

Adult.com once again demonstrates a classic example of how businesses are managed in this industry. If someone was to change the font size by 1 pt. on a link going to their servers, they would be on the 'offender' in a second. But, when the problem is on their own servers, and it is to their advantage, the 'error' can go for months without anyone noticing.

And about the mystery js...I can't recall the last time I 'accidently' typed a command on a webpage, when I didn't intend for it to be there. If the js is there, it was put there for a reason.

But, are they cheating...maybe not...sloppy yes...

Remember to put this error in perspective. Say it is redirecting 1 in 4 requests (since they have said this is round robined on 4 servers...with one server the culprit). And, if you look at the other thread started in December, this looks like it has been going on for months. This translates to tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales that are occurring with no referral...ie. no commission.

Don't worry, Lensman stated that it had been corrected...about 8 hours ago. So, click your heals together, and sprinkle your computer with magic fairy dust. This appears to be the technique used by the crack tech team at adult.com, so surely it will work for you as well.

When Lensman said it would be fixed I expected it would be. I try to send my traffic to reputable programs. If you're going to skim traffic, just make it clear in the terms and that gives me an option to send traffic to your program or not.
If you're going to come up with creative links and traffic leaks, also make that known so I can make better decisions. Here are a couple more traffic leaks to 10dollarsluts.com

http://galleries.adult.com/reality/h...wm=NTM0OjY6MTA
http://galleries.adult.com/reality/h...wm=NTM0OjY6MTA

Click any of the bottom 3 "thumbs" on those pages and you'll get sent to the 10dollarsluts page.

Chimmy 03-31-2005 09:32 AM

Damn, I hate it when I make an obvious spelling mistake. In my response above I misspelled "sloppy". The correct spelling would be "cheating". Sorry, my mistake.

Theo 03-31-2005 09:37 AM

i see that too

Chimmy, apology accepted, I got very upset when I saw that obvious spelling mistake. This board is frequent by a significant number of linguists and we do not tolerate such mistakes.

:thumbsup And now I feel another apology is needed. I am afraid that all of this posting may be causing a bit of a racket at the adult.com headquarters. Sorry fellas...from your slow response to the issues brought forward in this thread, it is apparent that it is nap time at your office. Didn't mean to disturb you. Please return to your pillows and resume your comfortable fetal position.

they are looking into the issue, chill out.

SmokeyTheBear 03-31-2005 11:21 AM

grrr this should NOT TAKE 2 fucking months to fix broken GALLERIES

SmokeyTheBear 03-31-2005 11:25 AM

Furthermore this problem should never be happening. 404 traffic should be GLEAMED for a NATS code before you send the surfer to some site that the affiliate isnt paid for.

This is very simple , and when you have REPEATED problems such as this it means the surfer doesnt lose money..

The same galleries were working just fine last week , now all of a sudden new galleries are broken and old galleries are suddenly fixed ?? WTF is going on here.

How can you expect anyone to send realitycash hits when they arent getting through.

You make a very valid point. Server error? Not sure how that server error can be repeated consistently but then I'm not some server guru.
