sponsors changing their names? what's up with that?

I don't understand why small sponsors change names from time to time. Is it so that tgp'ers who can't change their link codes are generating them some free revenue?

What sparked this from me is an email I got from webmastercash today. They are changing the name and require link code changes.

"You have 4 days to change your links . Deadline : february 25, 2005 "

4 fucking days? I feel bad to those who actually promote them on galleries and freesites.

No reason to feel bad. Nobody was sending them traffic.

It's really stupid but in some cases it is necessary.

I can understand it in some cases. In once case recently a small company changed their name. The owner of the company picked a name that limited them to what kind of sites they can offer, and a new sponsor name that allowed them to branch out into other areas was needed to allow them to grow.

Thre's no excuse - even if a company changes name or whatever, they should still forward the old links through with minimal effort.

Sponsors that can't do a simple config update likely have deeper problems; big time shaving.
