Best and most secure CMS?

I've been using Php-Nuke for a few of my sites and I loved it. Problem is that one of my sites that I've spent months working on has been hacked and now everything is lost...

Is there any simular systems you would recomend that is more secure and just as easy to maintain / build ??

Free or affordable pay CMS wanted

Thanks!

Mambo is.. all over. Mambo has better support, has good community and they've currently dealt with a very intriguing sapina. They got sued and got rid of it.

Mambo is great. Only, it's too much for me. There are alot of functions that I don't need and will just clutter my site. Recoding it will take time. Defaults are packed with tons and tons of options.

A Mambo Lite is supposedly in the works. But I do agree that the features are overwhelming.

An alternative is PostNuke

What about security? Is Mambo harder to hack into?

mambo sites got hacked a while ago. whilst it might be 'secure' at the moment from all 'known' vulnerabilites its important to make sure you keep up to date... there is no set and forget in any website application

As a security measure, never in any way allow everything as defaults.
