I'm fascinated. Please, please educate me on how to tell the difference between an insurgent and a civilian non-combatant. And how do I decipher who killed whom from looking at these pictures? I beg you, oh wise one, please enlighten me!

Exactly...the enemy in Iraq are all civilians...as the Iraqi Military was defeated and disbanded in the first three weeks.

All of you banner waving war lovers need to shoot yourselves in the head. Maybe that will solve our violence problem. Note, I did NOT say all military. There are some military who were in it just because they were promised an education, or they needed discipline in their lives. Their misguided reasons for joining the military should not be held against them. But, then again, since we're not ever going to get all of the violent idiots to kill themselves, then I guess we need a military.

I am not much into the blood and guts photos either, but I also dont think showing the pretty side of it is right. There is a very ugly side to what is going on. I am not blaming the soldiers. But we can not let our selves forget what is truly happening.

ChefJeff 02-19-2005 05:51 PM

For some reason I just get totally depressed when I think about our brothers and sisters still dying over there.

It's time to bring them back and get this fucking Bush arrogant prick out of office. Can't we do something to stop these neo-con born agains?

No. You tried, you failed. I'm sure the hippie vote will turn out in droves next time around though so hold the course. :thumbsup

Does that sound oxymoronic to anyone else? Does the poster harbor latent violent tendencies?

I told everyone up front that I had censored the pictures and took out anything with gore. Furthermore, it's a violation of the Geneva Convention (Protocol One) to take such pictures (and thus display them).

I just didn't want to post gore on my server. I leave that crap to CJ.

...safely, without damamging the Iraq infrastructure, and killing TENS of THOUSANDS of INNOCENT Iraqi human beings....(and MAIMING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OUR OWN SOLDIERS...and KILLING THOUSANDS OF OUR OWN SOLDIERS)...then we should have negotiated for the oil covertly*, without harming so many lives...

* or worked on a $100 BILLION dollar program for energy independence. We could build 300 fully staffed $300 MILLION dollar university research centers AND built a bridge across the Bering Strait for the helluva of it...

so what you're saying is just because rochard chose not to show pictures of mangled corpses, his pictures aren't a part of the reality?

i've never been in a war, but i know enough that one of the main characteristics of war is a lot of boredom with no action.

therefore your logic is flawed. he simply chose not to post those pictures, doesn't mean he's trying to change reality, or suggest a different reality.

soooo naive to paint the picture.

i have no desire to argue with you. you are military. its just hilarious to see you paint the pretty picture while others die.

coloring book aint war

I was at a military base all weekend. My brother in law is in Iraq.

The people there believe that we've found WMD in all its forms there. Others believe they still have them, but we haven't found them yet. My sister likes to talk about some website documenting the findings of biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons findings. Needless to say she didn't produce it when pressed. I hope the soldiers the best of luck and hope they are fine. I'd like my bro-in-law to see his newly born baby in 16+ months when he returns home, hopefully in one piece. These people are so delusional its not even funny.

Out of curiosity what is the last war fought where an american died protecting our way of life, freedom, or rights?

Civil war? I'm really curious, and I know I've asked this before without much above 6 year old responses. It's a serious question not seeking a knee-jerk response.

I'm new to the board and had to chime in to this thread. I respect everybody's opinion, first and foremost. That is what this country is about...The freedom to express yourself and the freedom to your own opinion.
That being said, you shouldn't comment so fiercly about things which you do not have a personal knowledge of. How many of you out there have ever seen first hand someone shooting at you while hiding behind a womans robe who is carrying a child? I have.
How many of you have flown over a freshly dug mass grave full of people (including children) that were left for dead because they disagreed with their government? I have.
WMD or not, that regime had to go. Most of the innocents killed over there were because the bad guys were using them as shields around there meeting places or hide outs. Ask the Kurds in northern Iraq why they hated Saddam and his sons so much...He used CHEMICAL WEAPONS against them (women, children, and everybody else) to see what effects they would have.
My sisters and brothers in arms are over there fighting for the freedom of the United States, and the freedom of the Iraqi people. We believe in what we are over there for. Don't let the press inflate all the bad while not reporting the good. They have a bad habit of that.
I'm not going to hide behind a screen name either. I have done two tours in Iraq with another looming in the near future. Call me flag waving. Call me a war monger. Whatever. I do my job so things like September 11, 2001 will never reach this soil again.

I agree with most of what you said but this. This implies that iraq had something to do with terrorism and more specifically 9/11.

If I understand correctly, the only people getting killed in Iraq is being killed by whom? The car bombers targeting innocent people - such as children?
