the dear catholics have a fundatmental misunderstanding of how human mammals work.

let see.

design an institution that makes men entering the priesthood take a vow of "celibacy".

now think about that for a second, then think about what sort of young men are going to want to enter the priesthood.

i mean, anyone with half a brain would instantly realize that there will be a huge number of "sensitive" young men who will want to enter the all-male club of the priesthood.

and if they can play with kids and be in a position of power with children might that also attract every fucking pedo in the world?

i don't know why anyone is surprised by all the sex abuse claims, because this is exactly what has happened.

catholics need to realize a fundatmental truth---forcing a vow of celibacy is the root cause for all this shit now---and it won't change unless priests are allowed to marry and fuck women---because when that finally happens it will basically solve the problem.

sorry, i am not religious, but this solution is so simple i don't know why it's never talked about.

I agree with you 100%. I believe that hardly any of the accused priests are predisposed to child abuse. They aquire those feelings after a life of denial and certain dispair. Personally, I couldn't imaging taking a vow of celibacy. Although I can't say that I'd be driven to child molestation, I'm sure it's a common enough feeling for all the cases out there.

I was raised catholic, although not much of a fan. Something funny is that catholicism actually allowed priests to marry way back when.

there were 3 cases of sexual misconduct in my chilhood home, lexington ky...2 were dismissed and one priest actually is serving time...the other two charges were dismissed, but the priests never recovered...both had to hide and leave the church

charges of sexual misconduct in catholicism are just as frequent as lawsuits in california....it is sad, and a lot of accusations turn out to be bunk...but like others said, when you take someone and strip them of their natural urges for a deity that no one is even sure if it exists, there is bound to be problems...problems for everyone
