"We have heard a lot of the rumors that are out there," NHL chief legal officer Bill Daly told The Associated Press. "Unless or until we hear from the union, the rumors are meaningless."

The Hockey News cited sources that said Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux were trying to work together to get a deal done. Gretzky said he talked to Lemieux, but downplayed the significance of their discussion.

"To say Mario and I had a conversation to stir up the conversations and talks again, that's just not true," Gretzky said on the Fan 590 in Toronto.

And it appears that no other scenarios could un-cancel the season, either. The rest of the story can be found here....

I've heard many stories over the past few days... the one above has many different versions. Some say Wayne is trying to get the 2004-2005 season back in play. We'll see. Ironically, I also heard this morning on the radio that the first time the RedSocks won a World Series the NHL didn't play the season after just like this time. Is this true? Interesting trivia if it is.

So, in honor of the 2004-2005 NHL Hockey Season, I brought a phew photos out of retirement... Taken with the old camera back when I didn't show my face... (looks like I didn't even use a tripod, sorry)
