Dark Age Of Camelot OR Everquest ??

Hey gamers, I just have a quick question for ya. I've been playing Everquest for a while and next week the big expansion pack comes out, which is gonna be exciting. The thing is that I was thinking here. Should I get that expansion pack OR should I pick up Dark Age Of Camelot.

Everquest does get kinda old after you bring your character up a bit and you have to wait forever to level again. I've got a couple of higher up characters now, but I haven't played in a bit due to the bored factor, he he. I know that the expansion will bring new life into it though.

I've heard many good things about Dark Age Of Camelot that is pretty much cleared up everything that Everquest did wrong like you not depending on being in a group as much, letting you do more solo action, which would be really nice. Also, you don't have to sit around healing and medding like you do in Everquest.

Has anyone played on both sides of the fence that could give me a gamers opinion ??

My kid really wants to play everquest. i'm not fond of having games on the comp because they always fuck with my registry. they have a free 30 play and i'm wondering if it's worth trying out. i hate the idea of paying money for her to play some online game but if it's really cool...

what y'all think? is it worth the money? is it hard to cancel after the 30 day free trial?

titmowse, Everquest is VERY addicting. I got it just about a year ago and I've put in MANY MANY hours into that game. I recently finally became bored with the game, but I've still been poking in to play it now and then.

I'm sure that your kid will be totally hooked on the game if you get it. Heck, maybe you could give it a try also because you can create multiply characters. If you do, you'll find out why they call it EverCrack, ha ha ha.

You just get fascinated with the game, how it's such a HUGE beautiful open world. Hell, there's MANY areas in the EQ world that I've never even seen before and probably never will.

It's not bad paying $10 per month to play it if the game is played a lot in the month. Just think of it this way, if he's hooked on this game, he won't want any others. You'll just have to fight with him to get on your computer, ha ha ha.

Also, if you wanna look at it this way, people are willing to pay REAL money for a lot of items that you can find on EQ. Look at http://www.playerauctions.com There's an EQ section on there. Hell, I could sell all of the equipment that my characters have and make a few hundred bucks, it's crazy.

The graphics and character models in the new EQ expansion pack are stunning. The minimum requirements, however, are equally stunning.
--copied from http://everquest.station.sony.com/su...quirements.jsp ---
Minimum specs:
Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP
Pentium® II 400Mhz or greater
256 MB RAM
16 MB Direct3D compliant video card and hardware T&L (i.e. Nvidia GeForce/GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon)
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
28.8 K+ Internet connection
4X speed CD-ROM
450 MB+ hard drive space

Note: Although technically below the minimum specs, players with 128 MB of RAM will still be able to run Luclin by turning off the new character models.

Recommended specs:
Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP
Pentium® III or greater
512 MB RAM
32 MB Direct3D compliant video card and hardware T&L (i.e. ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce 2 or greater)
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
56.6 K+ Internet connection
16X speed CD-ROM
1.5 GB+ hard drive space
--end copy--

But I've seen the new graphics and it is worth it, IMHO.

Yeah, I've seen pics of the new expansion also, it looks beautiful. It'll be really interesting seeing what the new models will look like in action. I think that I'm just gonna go for it. I got the system to push it, so it'll look beautiful to me.

Tanker, I never played UO before. I've heard many things about it, but stayed away from it because of it's dated look compared to EQ. It must be good though if people are still playing it.

I see that Lord British has a new game out called Lineage, I wonder how good that is.

You gotta go with Dark Age of Camelot. Everquest was good, but its almost 3 years old now.. the expansion looks cool, but the game is dying. DAoC is a really good game, there's a lot more to do and realm vs realm pvp combat is a blast.
