Help Email Virus!!!

Mother fuckers!

I just got some kind of email virus or something.

I recieved an email that executed something or something. Now I am getting a bunch of emails back that are returning virus warning msgs like :

'A Illegal attachment type was found in an Email message you sent.
This Email scanner intercepted it and stopped the entire message
reaching it's destination.

The Illegal attachment type was reported to be:

Windows Program Information Files'

What do I need to do to stop this?

I did a virus scan with some older software but did not find anything.

I also deleted all of my contact list.

How can I set up my email so it detects like the others did.

Fuck this sucks!!!!

Sorry to anyone else who may get this from me

From the way I see it it would me a msg or reply from my email wich is :

From TS
or
tstroud At btc-bci.com

But I guess it could come from someone else that you are on there email list if they get it.

I deleted the one I got.
It was a reply from someone.

I wish I new what all it did.

Is there any thing that I can do??

Netscape after you get this problem fixed.

I keep on reading stuff like this and I do not feel one bit sorry for people using IE.
This shit will never end for people using Outlook. As soon as Microsoft fixes one bug or back door crackers find another one or MicroSoft in fixing creates 1 or 10 more.

Dam talk about the ramblings of amadman.

I guess the dammage is done. But I would still like to know what I can do to stop it in the future and see if something is still on my computer.

I think that is based on the assumption that Netscape users use Netscape Messenger for e-mail and IE user use Outlook Express for e-mail
depending on how many email accounts you use there are other options for checking e-mail besides. If you dont have a good virus checker you can always go cheap and forward e-maill address to yahoo accounts and let its virus check software watch for you but that would be a real pain if you have 5 or more e-mail address that you check

an email that executed something

Emails do not execute, end users click on attachments.

did a virus scan with some older software

So this means you don't run a real-time virus checker.

i have the same problem. For two days whenever i open the outlook to download my mails, norton interrupts and says e-mail has a infected file attached. And then, it just stops downloading. So, i told it to my hosting comp. and asked them to delete all the mails i have in the server. They deleted the all messages which were 200kb. Then everything started to work normally. But like 10 min ago, i tried the download the new e-mails, but fuck it, again norton says infected file attached to the e-mail and it stops downloading. What the fuck i am supposed to do now. SHould i ask my hosting company to delete all the messages again... Amd according to norton the virus is named as [email protected] .

sure I use Netscape for my emails and sure it's based on the assumption.
Every time this happens and the person post about it on this board, I bet 99% of the time they are using Outlook.
Think about it, most of you are in your early 20's and got IE because it was FREE. When I started on the Net there
was NO IE, as a matter of fact there was NO browser's at all and all I could get was NewsGroups. Big Boy.

i have the norton and it deletes the e-mails when i am downloading them, but then outlook keeps saying it is receiving the e-mails but actually it does not. Whenever i start it again same shit happens. I think norton blocks the access to the server so i cannot get any of my e-mails. My host deleted the e-mails once but i keep getting them all the time and outlook get stuck whenever i try to download them. I have one question though; I am thinking of disabling norton for outlook and download all those infected files to delete them manually without opening the attachements. Do you think the virus will damage the computer if i do that. ALso, i have read that the virus e-mails the cached passwords to some e-mail addreses. I have a firewall which does not let any program to access internet without asking me, so you think i will be safe if i do that.

For anyone that is infected with that shit go here:
http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/virus...ORM_BADTRANS.B

That tells you what you have to do. (Make sure the url includes the .B at the end). Cut and paste if you have to. You'll be sending that shit out every time you log on until you get it fixed.

There is also some cocksucker logging your keystrokes, as I understand that is what the trojan part of the virus does. If you've used your credit card online since you were infected you might be fucked.

Stop using OE. Period.

It's not complicated. It's not rocket science. You don't need that fucking resource eating Norton bullshit. You don't need fucking Netscrap. You don't need to filter shit through a fucking Yahoo account or ask your host to block attachments.

You need a decent email proggy & to stop opening the fucking virus mail which, in case you haven't figured it out by now, you will continue to get for as long as you use the Internet.

Stop fucking crying about it and use your fucking brain for something other than a hat rack.

Umm the email virus he received was the badtrans
one and it most certainly executes without the user clicking the attachment. I don't use outlook so I couldn't tell you exactly how the virus works like this but it does run as soon as you open the email message. No attachment clicking needed

thanks for the info evildick I did like you said and fixed the problem.

I also download eudora and the update for my virus software.

As for not being able to get it without opening the attachments.
Thats what I used to thing but it is not the case with Outlook:

"....It does not require the email receiver to open the attachment for it to execute. It uses a known vulnerability in Internet Explorer-based email clients (Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express) to automatically execute the file attachment. This is also known as Automatic Execution of Embedded MIME type"

Thanks again for the help

I had this same problem the other day. So I finally got smart an bought some antivirus software. I got MCaffee Virus Scan. Which kicks ass. It didn't find the virus on my system though. So I went to the MCAffee site and download the latest updates. Turns out the virus I had (which sounds like the same one you got) was brand new. So you need to keep your virus check software up to date.

Anyway, it did detect and clean my system. Now when I get that e-mail the virus checker kicks out a warning. So I delete the e-mail. Easy enough

www.antivirus.com is a great resource, and I also like their av products. There is a free email scanner available on CNET downloads.

I'm pretty sure the #2 virus out there, NIMDA, can infect you regardless of what email client you have, so you should always scan email at a minimum.

Your not getting it are you. Ok, I'll spell it out in crayon for you
(and you can thank me later).

Who is going to get a kakworm? You? Sure as hell it isn't going to
be me. Now you may be susceptible to a lame piece of
Dorian Grey code, but access to open/write/fget from a piece
of code is for lamers.

If some code can phuk-u-up then your totally relying on crap written by
others to protect you from crap written by others
(let me know if this is hurting your head).

And gee, I'm impressed. You know the url to Symantec. That's some
hot work. Maybe one day I might learn where to lookup stuff
