I used it today. Feels really good handheld. The lens is wide so no real need for adding a fucking rock on the end of your lens.

LCD is of low quality. Less quality than on the VX2100 but it is bigger.

If you are one of the guys who uses onboad mics than you might be disapointed because this mic is not isolated so well so you get more handling noise than on the VX2100. But of course we always use real mics, right?

You can shoot in HDV and then just send it out to your computer as DV and it centercuts 4:3 for you if you don't want widescreen. Also when you are shooting you can have pillarboxes showing the safe zone for 4:3 because the LCD always shows 16:9.

No where near the low light capability of the VX2100.

Doesnt it have a 2 lux rating? The 2000 is 3 and the 2100 is 1 so 2 isnt really that bad.

I tend to get a little dramatic.

It is decent in low light. Just not as good as the VX2100.

I love my 2100, the fx1 is very nice but I'm going to wait to see what is next from sony.

The true 16:9 is cool since the 2100 fakes it and able to output in sd mode is another great thing since not everyone is ready for HD yet. But shooting in HD and having it for later use is a huge plus.

Same here. Plus I really don't like 16:9 for porn anyway.

I have owned the FX1 for a month now and it pisses all over the VX2100 IMO.

The HD is stunning, and downconverted to SD it gives a cleaner image. I shoot a lot in 16:9 and so this is a huge plus being native and not squeezed. With HDDVD just around the corner, and final cut pro supporting HD editing through LumierHD, which is due any day, this time next year will see widescreen HD porn DVDs. Fantastic.

On my 43 inch Pioneer HD plasma, it's like looking out of the window.

you using PAL right? I think the pro vesion does both NTSC and PAL.

I just upgraded from my TRV900's to the VX2100 last month. Did a lot of reading to see if I wanted to wait for the HD camera, but decieded on the 2100. I'll let you guys iron out all the bugs and get one in 2006. Would love to see some pics and a raw video clip from it.

well we're gonna probably get the SONY HD camera soon - figured out it's 11 grand in the camera and software and hardware upgrades to work with it .

the only HD codecs right now for the Web are from Microsoft right?

the raw HD video takes up huge storage space.
