Hosting question

If you are assigned multiple IP addresses and run two different sites on two different IP addresses on the same box is there a way for the outside world to know they are running on the same box?

nameservers can be run at places like networksolutions so that won't work.

having the same nameservers doesn't mean they're on the same box

nmap -sS -O ip#

will show the servername, so if both ip#s display the same server name usually it means they are on the same server.

You can also do a security check with that command to make sure you dont have any open ports that aren't suppose to be open.

and before you ask how do you close ports that you dont want left open..

the simplest method to do from the server end..

readup on "iptables" if you are on linux

Keep in mind, that if the ips are all bound to the same ethernet card port.... that they will all report the SAME MAC ADDRESS, so if your upstream wants to know, they can monitor mac adresses and easily see that.
