Well I handed over my Mercedes last night... bittersweet

Yep I did it. I traded it in for a 2002 chevy malibu of all things. No more seat heaters, no more turbo, no more built in phone, no more leather and my dash is totally plastic! Hahaha but I feel great! I cut my payment in half...

Then if that wasn't enough for one day, I called up my g/f who is also my landlord and told her she can start showing my house. I'm going to do a HUGE downgrade for the next 6 months.. maybe a year.

I got letters sent to each credit bureau to clear anything and everything completely OFF (divorce papers prove I owe nothing now) and I waltzed in a couple days ago and got approved for a few hundred thousand dollar loan for a house!!

Going to do some major money stashing and being a cheap ass but I am way ahead and on top of the game!! I love it! Sorry if I'm using GFY as my diary but I thought it might inspirse someone who might be heming and hawing as to what they are capable of. You can do anything if you pull your head out of your ass!

To answer you with cliff notes Lee... Remember when I was on the netpond newbie board goofing off and just starting out? God I remember how bad this sucked. I had broke my achilles tendon in half and it happened to be 2 days after I got cancelled from health insurance.. simply cuz we were unorganized and forgot to pay it...

Anyway my car was repo'd, I was eating leftover top ramen, making sites and working graveyard at a hotel (every other night if you can imagine), took a loss on the salon I had just bought and we were forced to file bankrupt.

Over time my "place" in the industry was climbing, I was getting paid KILLER money, catching up slowly... and my marriage was going downhill fast. During a complete mental breakdown practically, I moved out. I remember doing that 911 auction live online while surrounded by very few boxes, crying, and drowning myself in crappy wine.

Anyway instead of getting myself together I decided to partake in a long distance relationship which helped in some ways but was ultimately not the greatest idea I realize now.

My ex husband drug our divorce on for 3 long years even though he had everything we owned. I mean everything except my clothes and a 10$ painting I was attached to. He even came to court with folders full of ammunition having to do with my porn industry work to try and yank custody.

I started to fall behind, wasn't able to attend webmaster events like I used to, was always too miserable to post much, and started to struggle financially and fall into the background. I couldn't envision 3 months ahead for myself so it was impossible to take any sort of action. I was all down on myself and just always depressed.

Anyway I pulled my head out of my ass and have been going full speed ahead with my plan of action. All I owe is a little chunk to the irs ;) not too awfully much then I'm free and clear. I'm ready to BUY... I'm extatic.. I feel like running through a wheat field like a massengil commercial... haha sorry this post got so long...

It wont take you long, trust me. I bought my first house in 95, and it took me right at 6 months to go from deciding I wanted to do it to having enough saved and a closing date. Just focus on what's important to you, don't let the stupidity get in the way, and you'll be good to go before you know it.

I had that same reality check you talk about, and ditched the used cadillac I got a year after our divorce, and got me a Chevy truck...one year after divorce I could have assets again..and all those judgements expired...I finally qualifed for a new truck financing plan...it had been 8 years!

I got an equity loan, paid off the truck, paid off the debt, and live simple.

I have made millions of dollars in my life but I never was as happy as I am now with a real simple life and no financial demands....
