I used to do really well with adwords and then one day clicks skyrocketed and conversions plummeted for no apparent reason... so I had to stop using ppc and focused on organic results again.

Sites like Overture don't help matters much when they spread your keywords across a "network" of ridiculous, cookie-cutter search engines that are ripe for fraud.

If you use Overture you'll notice that your exposure and clicks fluctuate wildly from one day to the next.

I don't have time to monitor legit vs. bogus hits. When you see something suspicious they seem to be responsive if you report it but isn't it their job to monitor instead of the advertiser?

Wasn't that long ago "online casino" and those keywords went for $40+ on fridays and saturdays

Do you know what the highest PPC keyword is? I have seen $35 per click....cant remember the spelling , but i will find out...

PS: dont search engines have a smarter method to track click from the same ip or person? i think so....

Stricchiola believes it's only a matter of time before advertisers become so exasperated with click fraud that they file a class-action lawsuit against a major search engine.

I'm surprised it hasnt happened already actually.

The highest as far as I know is: "yahoo domain" (without quotes).

It's topping at around $342.65 / click.
