Designer What's Good Software for 3D Letter Logos?

what do people use to produce the really nice 3D letter logos? I'm sure many use cracked versions of Maya and StudioMax - if there's a good reasonably priced piece of software please post it. Not some lame piece of crap like Cool3D - used that before, produces crap. Xara 3D any good?

Show us what kinda of logo you want to make.. and people will tell you which software can do it...

Btw. finding a good software is only a small part of the equation... Making a good looking logo with a 3D software takes some experience... Unless you find some miracle cheapass software..

Blender is a great product. Nice work, machinegunkelly. Will you post links to some of your favorite Blender 3D tutorials?

3d text logos ? Xara is simple...It just involves typing your text and use the templates and adjust the bevels, shadows etcetera...It's retard proof and cheap.

Also, Mutt, have you checked out Crystal 3D IMPACT! Pro? It's as old as the dirt under your fingernails but it's great for 3D lettering: http://www.crystalgraphics.com/web/3dimpactpro.main.asp
