How secure is your hosting company ?

Do they make sure when a tech leaves he can no longer access anything?

Or do they run their business like they pay those techs?

Non payment of a tech could also mean no security of the servers after the tech leaves.

hint hint

Is there any good way for me to test the security of my servers? Like hire a security consultant?

That would be a good place to start.

Another way would be to check who has access to your server IE: who is listed in the passwd file

Want references ?

People I have worked for:

Oxeo.com
Techiemedia.net
Prohosters.com
Pimpshost.com
some others ...

Along with that I have had access to many other servers throughout the years providing support and security.

Yup.

Cleaning off my desktop tonight I was going through all my email Icons on my desktop and lo and behold I found an email address still working after I haven't worked for this company in 6 months ...

I have all emails to and from support ...

This is bad security for a hosting company.

As stated Techiemedia is not the company ...
Oxeo is not the company either as they have top notch security.
Prohosters also has had me blocked since the day I left them.

Is there a reason that you have worked for so many different companies? Do you keep getting fired, or do you keep quitting?

Ok there are other tech security people on this forum feel free to hire someone you feel confident with.

The main thing about security is making you feel safe and if you don't feel safe with me so be it

Risky,

If someone tried to hack our servers we would sue them, and report them to fbi for a full investigation.

Be carefull some hosting companies have this in their policies.

I would say to find a reputable IT firm, mainly one that will contact the host to get details. Not one that would just try to break in and tell you he was denied ect...

Also this type of company will not be cheap $1000 to $2000 to start if they are reputable.

We have our networks scanned weekly:

Your right that would be cool,

I just remember once a customer called and said my hacker friend couldn't hack your server, great job.. and I said who is he so we can prosecute.

I hate to sound like a hard ass but security is very serious for hosts as you know.

In this case we actually let it go since the customer was long term and didn't realize it's bad to test security by trying to hack it.

Good luck my man.

BTW, I would help you bhut I think you host would not approve anothe rhost testing their security.
