Cant really tell if it is a good offer without knowing more. How is the uptime? Is it redundant? how is the support? are you on an overloaded server? etc.... (alot of these things happen to some low price hosts) all this is important to determine an answer.

I've been using them for quite a while, not a single problem, ever.

Those are GREAT rates.... BUT

Just be careful! I checked out moving all of my gear to Cogent earlier in the year and got some interesting information. Realize that the reason the bandwidth is so cheap is because they're using some sort of extra compression. I'm not a total guru but if I'm not mistaken their peering isn't the complete redundancy you might expect.

However, one of my clients owns a small hosting company and is using their network happily, so I'm not suggesting it's a bad move.

Cogent is a company that, as their sales rep explained it, is not yet profitable. Basically, they're relying on getting several more rounds of venture capital to stay in business. That's got to make you nervous! With all the consolidation and companies going out of business I'd be a bit concerned.

If you stuff isn't mission critical, maybe it's worth a shot. In the long-term I've found that you get what you pay for. I tend to believe that the best hosting is modestly priced... not dirt cheap, not too expensive. Remember that what you're paying for is basically the quality of the network backbone plus the quality of all the network gear and servers you're on if you're doing virtual hosting.

So, even if the bandwidth is clean you might want to see what type of servers you'll be residing on. I'd suggest talking to some 'satisfied customers' of whatever hosting company you ultimately choose.

Remember, if it was THAT simple and the performance was THAT great we'd all be paying .99 per gig ;-)
