NEED HELP (affiliate problem here)

So "hypothetically speaking"....lol

Lets say that you have an affiliate in your program, and he signed up about 2 weeks ago....and he is sending like 5,000 uniques a day with only 2 joins (trials at that) for the whole 2 weeks.

You (the program owner) has tried to contact him by mail, phone, email, etc. Every means possible at your disposal, and still no reply or answer. You have exhausted every option of contacting him with the exception of grabbing a flight from LAX to Autrailia.

You don't know what he is screwing up on, but can't communicate with him to figure it out.

Do you:

1. Say fuck it and ban his account;

2. Say fuck it and just let it go (which costs you money in bandwidth (trailers) and really screws up you program lifetime average of 1:431 FIRST page traffic convertion ratios);

3. Something else involving a board with a large rusty nail in it;

4. Redirect it somewhere else;

5. Ask GFYers for help.

Well, you know what I have done so far, so help me out here. Lookinf for opinions....

Definetly not 1, 4 and 5 !

Can't really see how he can send 5000 hits without you beeing able to see in your stats where they come from ?

I'd propably start there, track the trafic back to hopefully some way of contacting him and if that keeps failing and he really burns a lot of bandwith send it to a tour 'light' without trailers..

Btw. hate when affiliates don't ansver mails when your trying to help them, had one that got his reff code wrong but never replied to my mails and never got them fixed before he eventualy took the links down, propably blaming the site for not converting

I recently sent like 15k hits to a new program and got 0 sales, but I would be mad for sure if they closed the account.

I'd send it somewheres else.. Do a mod rewrite and send it to a competitor you think it more closely resembles with your own affiliate code as a payment for the service.

Obviously some of those were jokes. He is doing something wierd where I can't track him. And Ithink he may have put something funny in it where it misses the join page. I don't want to screw the guy obviously, but I'm left with little option. We have had the thing with the ref code too....what funny is when you let them bitch you out for 30 minutes on the phone BEFORE letting them know that don't have it there.....lol.....there is normally a long silence on their end, then a quick change of subject.

5000 to your tour or to your galleries?
The 2 trials not converting to full memberships is out of his hands and in yours (your end).

One of the 2 trials did convert. And its 5000 to the TOUR first page. We dont tell the affiliates their join page traffic and try to pass it off as a better ratio. That is bullshit in our opinion. Its the affiliates job to get the sirfer to the page, its ours to get him to the join page and signing up, agreed, 100%.

The problem is that he is unlike ANY other affiliate we have right now, just hurting the overall numbers and wont correspond with us.

And NATS is doing the tracking, so we see what he sees as far as accurate numbers go.

Providing it wasn't fraud.

Do you know for sure s/he isn't doing a hit bot to cover up two trials? You you have a big payout(?), maybe somemore will start showing up. The hope being that it is because of all the traffic.... Smarter to do a little at a time and stay below the radar. Then just do it to a bunch of sites.

Can't claim to be a fraud guru, but some thoughts. Bet some other program owners could give some pointers on detection.

Keep him for a while and see if his conversion ratio improves. If those 5000 hits per day arent a hitbot, he is still giving your site(s) lots of exposure.

I hope this is a joke! Close his account? Overal ratios? Who the hell cares about overall ratios, will you prefer 200 sales a day from top converters with overal ratio 1:200 or 300 sales with overal ratio 1:1000? Oh, and hosting, 5k a day must cost really a lot, I rather shouldnt click this thread and get angry before my sleep. And redirect the traffic? Oh dear...

Sadly, I don't think it's a joke...

Another valid point...that was brought up and I am going to do a cross analysis and see if I can find anyone that looked at hid page and then couldn't sign up there for any reason and then came back to our main domain and tried to sign up....it'll take me a couple of days to go through it all, but I think it may be worth it to figure out where the problem does lie...

I don't care about the convertions with the exception that is is a good factor for seeing when something is wrong. Do I think the affiliates that are with us doing 1:80 up to 1:300 would care or go elsewhere if the overall conversion was 1:1,000,000? Of course not. That is just stupid. Affiliate ABC should care about Affiliate ABC's numbers and the size of his check. Not Affiliate XYZ's numbers.

The part that is a joke, is so many affiliate push programs based on what they claim their overall conversion numbers are. Some of our smartest affiliates that do great with us never even look to see what NUMBERS they are converting at. They know what their traffic is worth, and what they should be making off of it, and if they make even more, then they know that they are in the right program.

I want whatever problem he has fixed. I want him to convert that traffic. Its a revshare program, we make money when he makes money. But the fact that I can't get in touch with the guy is frustrating.

well, its nice from you that you care about him, but if he doesnt do anything illegal, I dont see the point of closing his account or taking his traffic. There are affiliates, who promote tons of sponsors(50+) and dont care about each one individually.
