Bad Boy 89 Pistons or Todays LA Lakers?
What ya think?
Would the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons Team of the late 80's take today's Lakers? Shaq, Kobe, and Phill Jackson or Chuck Daily, Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Joe Dumars, Bill Lambeer, Vinny Johnson, John Sally, James Edwards, Rick Mahorn. Are You like me and think the era of the Detriot Piston team was underated? The way they handled the Trail Blazers and other great teams back then was awsome. The mental aspect of the game imposed by the Pistons was unreal. I just wathed this classic espn game and how they just whipped Jordans Bulls with the mental game.. It was great. (it also showed Jordan's greatness becasue his selfish game evolved from this) The Bulls years later de-throned the Pistons to end their legacy, and cut it short as the Piston franchise dismantled. But when this Pistons team was at their peak, they played better than any team in recent memory. Just brutal. You think a hard nosed team like Detroit would just destroy a team like the modern day Lakers? [This message has been edited by boneprone (edited 11-26-2001).] |

I think the best was the legacy of "Showtime" in LA
Worthy, Magic, Kareem, Byron Scott, AC Green, Cooper, Rambis |

I go for lakers, only cuz the pistons couldnt get away with the shit today that they used to. They are calling techs for looking at the ref the wrong way (see sixers-raptors game on sunday).
It would be a tight one (kinda like my last girlfriend) but Lakers in 6. |

Kobe and Shaq would be pudding around a team that made them think so much, and Phil Jackson, the so called Zen master would be hit with a shock of reality called coachism.

Boston and LA dominated the 80's and Chicago dominated the 90's and that domination in my opinion was because of the skills of such players as Byrd, Ainge, Magic, Jordan etc. They played tough but any one of those guys could finesse the ball to the hoops without having to take someone's head off in the process. I loved to hate those Celtics too...LOL. But I admired them...that bastard Byrd could trip on his shoe laces toss up the ball and the fucker would make it...LOL However if the Pistons were allowed to play as dirty and rough as they did then now...they would wipe Shaq's ass with Kobe's head. eros |

WTF?
You dont think Byrd, Ainge, Magic played dirty? They were Jedi masters of the mind game and and dirty play as well! Thats my point. Dont you think these old school teams would just kill the modern day teams? I sure do. no doubt the Bulls of the 90's and Lakers and Celtics of the 80's would just ravage the modern day lakers.. Im wondering about the team that many have forgotten about. The Pistons. Could they take these guys we call the Lakers today? Kobe and the Lakers are no comparison to the Lakers and Celteics of old, or the Bulls of the 90's.. But would the Bad Boys of Detriot also have this wuss team for lunch? |

I would consider the Unholy trinity of the NBA to be
Ainge, Laimbeer, and Tom "I wanna wipe that fucking smirk off of his face" Chambers. ![]() eros |

Yeah, all the players I loved to hate like Lame-beer, Jordan, Magic, Bird, Malone, Thomas, I have respect for now.
There was a reason I hated them so much, it was because they always worked my Blazers as they did every other team in the league. They were the people you loved to hate. The Ultamate Villians. I remeber when Malone, or Jordan would step foot in our arena the boos were as big as a villian in pro wrestling! Now these guys get cheered in the intro's and actually get standing obvations. Even the haters gotta respect the game they've mastered. |

Oh yeah the mailman is one of our arch enemies here in Dallas...LOL.
It felt so good to eliminate them from the playoffs last year. But you are right...those old schoolers had every aspect of the game down...from physical to mental. eros |

look at Jerry Rice. He gets cheers now in other footbal arenas.
And he's killing their home teams, yet they still cheer him as the Raiders beat thier team.. I remember he was one of the most booed recivers in football during away games. Now he gets more cheers from opposing teams than the home team reciever does! Shit if he came to Seattle to play the Seahawks Id cheer him over any seahawk player. Im sure others would to. |

If we had kept Johnson, maybe we'd be world champs!
Dont really care if Griff and A-Rod are gone. The bad boy was Randy. What an animal. |
