Oscar De La Hoya

More lawsuits on De La Hoya -- ex-fiancé, Shanna Moakler is the latest.

December 22, 2000 -- It seems like everyone is suing Oscar De La Hoya these days. The latest lawsuit against him comes from his ex-fiancé/actress Shanna Moakler.

The beautiful Shanna Moakler, who also is the mother of De La Hoya's daughter, has reportedly filed a hefty $62.5 million dollars against the popular ex-champion.

The actress claims that Oscar De la Hoya used her and their daughter to promote and enhance his image as a good husband and father. She is also saying that he has a "drinking problem and is sometimes abusive." All the allegations were denied by De la Hoya's attorney.

De la Hoya got engaged with Moakler in October of 1998 and soon thereafter gave birth to a baby girl. But the relationship soured as Moakler noticed that De La Hoya would make appearances without her and take other women. For example, at the Latin Grammy awards in September 2000.

This latest lawsuit is one of several that De La Hoya has pending. He is also in an ugly court battle with former promoter Bob Arum, president of Top Ranks, Inc.

De La Hoya's lawyer is confident that this current lawsuit by Moakler will be dismissed and that his client will continue his obligations with his daughter and provide for her.
