Can i get a little computer help
This started last night, I'll be browsing the web and all of a sudden I won't have any Internet connection - my card is hooked up to a router which is hooked up to the cable modem.
When i restart this PC, i still won't be able to connect to any sites, but when i shut down and reboot my net will be working again. The other pc's hooked up to the router aren't having any problems. any ideas? well, any ideas other than Amp's "format c:" ![]() |

Win2k kicks ass in networking. If you don't have it, get it.

the other 3 connected to the router are working fine tho. I tried switching the connections around too, but the one PC just won't stay connected for longer than 10 or so minutes before it just stops working.

hmmm.... I'm guessing that they're not far behind.... when mine went, all connections were good, untill I tried to hit something local on the server... then everything just fucking locked. If I waited about ten minutes, it would clear and work again... until I tried to hit a local again. But yeah... basically it's fucked. I used to have such high praise for Linksys.... but I don't know if I'll be spending and dollars their way again after that.
Believe me when I say I've gone through that fucking router with a fine tooted comb..... checked and triple checked every single setting... and reset the damn thing back to factory at least a dozen times. It's fried. But.... like I always say, when you're pissed off, nothing gains you more immediate satisfaction than a good ol' format c: ![]() |

On the other hand.... if it's only affecting one.... you may be in luck... if you got an extra patch cord laying around somewhere..... swap out patch cords. You may have a bad one.

format c: is the only possible solution for any problem besides extensive use of fdisk.

You may also want to switch out the NIC in the box from one of the other boxes...perhaps the router is fine..it may be the card or as AMP said the cable too

I've seen this before.. The only thing i've seen work is if you hold the cables and hub in all in one hand and pour a glass of water on it with the other... Make sure everything is plugged in though. Should cure any worries you have!
