You have to be practical about it. If your dad pays for your life and your ability to go to school, I say stick with what he wants for the time being. You're only 20 and who knows what you think is 'love' actually is love. And who knows if she feels the same way you do. Like Veteran's Day said, how stupid would you feel if you move out and she dumps you.

Save yourself the grief. In a few years if you're prepared to live on your own (mentally and financially let's hope) you can tell your dad what a prick you think he was about this. If your love is true and so is hers you can get back together at that time.

Are you making wedding plans? If not, then leaving her will not do you any good. If you were planning to marry, you'd really have to think whether they respect your decisions or not - and whether you are ready to drop them for the woman you love. Leaving her now will just give them the 'right' to judge any woman you date/love/plan to marry. In reality, if they can't respect your decisions, then you seriously will have a problem with them forever.

Do what makes you happy. You're the only person that can make the choice. My guess is that your father will, given time, come to accept the situation, especially if you love the girl. My son does things that I don't always agree with, but when he gets older, he's going to have to make his own mistakes or find his own happiness, especially in love. I can only hope I like the girls he brings home (especially if it's serious) but unless the girl is some kind of dope addict or other really serious loser, I'd keep my mouth shut and stay close to my son, whether I liked her or not.

And I wouldn't be so shortsighted and foolish as to pick skin color for the reason I didn't like her.

I'm Italian and for the most part the Sicilian heritage has been most apparent with the 'family-oriented' laws and what not. When I was a kid, I'd hear my dad laugh at them (the Sicilian side - he was from Central Italy and way more worldly) at the sound of racism. He'd remind them that their 'people' were made up of Arabs, Greeks and Africans - judging any other race would be like judging their forefathers.

If two people want to be together, whatever their color or religion, if they love eachother, they will respect and honor the other's beliefs and 'family traditions'. I doubt people marry blindly these days - simply because when you marry someone you are, to a certain extent, marrying their family.

I know of someone who listened to his 'mother' who didn't want him to marry a French-Canadian girl (caucasian) and he didn't, he married into the 'culture' she wanted and within 2 years, he was having an affair with the French-Canadian again and he ended up leaving the wife to get with his girlfriend.

Forbidden fruit seems much sweeter. If you don't forbid it and let nature take its course, you realize that the outcome may not be what you were fearing and making such a big stink for in the first place. If things work out the way you 'didn't want it to work out' - well, then be a bigger person and respect the person as the one your loved one loves. If they are willing to be part of the family, why all the hate?

It's funny, most of you say that men who would like their people and culture to continue to exist are ignorant and should die. What are they ignorant of exactly? Are they ignorant for not being a member of the Church of Multiculturalism? How so? Are they ignorant of your own opinions any more than you are of theirs? In any case, being ignorant, meaning lacking knowledge to a more severe degree than most others, is a label being thrown all too easily on people who simply have a different opinion. Isn't this in itself ignorance, ignorance of basic argumentation? The calls for lynching could certainly help to further fortify that conclusion. But you be the judge.

I'm sort of confused on the whole "I'm only 20" thing. When I was "only 20" I had been living on my own and fully supporting myself for a couple of years at that point, as had most of my friends at that age. I gotta agree with some of the others here and say "Grow the fuck up!" Get your ass out of the house and quit letting Daddy support you, then you can do whatever the fuck you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want!
