I've done some work for Richard in the past - he's a great bloke, as is his company.

Taboo, what registrar would you recommend for me as for today?

I want url forwarding, whois privacy and stability/reliability.

I had my domains with Dotster but they don't offer whois privacy, their prices suck ass and even they aren't 100% reliable, as the recent hijacking "Drama" shows. Then I moved some to Name Cheap because they are far cheaper and offer whois privacy, but now I am not sure if I should move all my names to them ( the best ones are still with Dotster ). I am not sure if Name Cheap / Enom are really reliable ( and Name Cheap is only a reseller, and as someone told me, this ads even more risk to them ).

Don't get me wrong, I am not a spammer, I don't have any enemies as of today, just a few good domains and I want to keep them in the most secure place available. And since I live in Europe and don't really have that many names, I am sure I won't get special treatment anywhere, so I just want a domai company that is 100% reliable to every consumer.

Oh, and I won't stay with Dotster for sure, since I really want an anonomous whois service simply for privacy reasons.

So should I move them to Name Cheap, should I move them DIRECTLY to Enom, or to some other company?

The best registrar is Network Solutions. They're the only ones I would trust my names to.

Their pricing is very fair, they respond very quickly when your name is stolen, and they use some of the finest inmates to man their call centres.

Dombuyer - NSI is the very worst place to have your domains. They not only loose more domains than all other registrars combined, there prices are outrageous.

I know many provide all the services that anyone would need for a fraction of the cost and manage your account as if it were our own. We would treat you this way at Moniker.com.

Their privacy costs $9 per year, ours is $2 for forum members. Domain registration costs are 1/3 of their fees.

Damian,
Still waiting to hear from you at [email protected] so I can investigate this. Please let me know if you got that email out to me.

Polish,
Whois protection is included for free in our $8.88 price. There is also no need to buy in bulk to get that price.

Our control panel is also known to be one of the best in the industry and was developed completely in house.

Posting a picture of someone in that regard is just plain silly imho.

I think anyone thats had pics taken for their drivers license can verify that we're not always happy with the outcome.
Having said that, I think he looks perfectly normal .. especially when you compare it to many others I've seen walking around the convention floors.
After the first night of sponsor parties .. well its not always pretty.
After the second night .. all bets are OFF! rofl

This was a serious thread and deserved serious answers - not insinuations, and not personality conflicts. As stated by others, if you have first hand knowledge (not heresay & 3rd person stories) of illegalities, state them .. if not its nothing more than 4th grade antics of finger pointing.

For me, as I stated before I have had my domains with DNS since he opened in 98 I think it was. My family knows his family, we've even had family dinners together.

Heck we even took my daughter down to visit during the summer so she could go to disneyworld with their sons. What happened was a couple of hurricanes decided to party over the state as you might recall.
I watched the guy in that picture and his sons help board up homes of the elderly in blistering heat before the canes, then watched them volunteer in the areas massive cleanups for endless days afterwards. They donated generators, drove hours buying up water and snacks to distribute between the needy, all at their own expense and exhaution - simply because they are good people.

Prior to meeting Gord and his wife at a convention, I never had one single issue crop up that they didn't handle professionally and promptly. Now that I've become friends with the I can say the same thing. Always professional, always prompt.

Plain and simple - there isn't another registrar around I'd take my business too.

I'm sure I've been called worse .. yet I survive quite well thanks

I have yet to hear your first hand knowledge of illegalities though, so i'll mark it up to a personality conflict

I was being sarcastic. Seemed fairly apparent by my post no?

By the way, I think moniker is a great registrar.

my domain came up again this month and I seriously thought about moving it to namecheap - I have some other domain there and the price is right - I didn't - I stuck with register.com - why? I haven't had any probs since signing with them - will think again before buying these bargin domains if this is the policy - sucks no matter who, what, or why - needs to be checked out instead of thrown out.

Well I gotta say, ive tried all of em and NameCheap is by far the most professional service ive used to date. The control panel is the best ive ever seen, without compare and I challenge anyone to find an equivalent level of service.

I keep 90% of my domains with NameCheap and will eventually transfer the remaining 10%.

maybe I'll secret shop the registrars and list results on DomainNews.com when it launches. I already own RegistrarBlacklist.com to list the registrars (mostly drop service partners) that are holding some of my domains "hostage"... registrars with no front end, no user access, no contact phone numbers... maybe some of the ones I secret-shop will end up on that list.

Also, I just reg'd the domains:
RegistrarWatchdog.com and RegistrarBoard.com

apparently there needs to be more due diligence done before transferring your domains from registrar to registrar.

.

domains held hostage

Hey Taboo,

We can help you get your names out of those registrars with no life.

We have LOTS of leverage with pool and snap and can basically get any domain out of any registrar with enough arm twisiting.

send me a list by registrar and I will certainly help you - or anyone else for that matter.
