Mr. Lens, is a 'blog' a 'board'?

As many of us know about GFY rules,

1. No spamming other boards! We don't spam other boards about GFY. We need the same courtesy!

Recently I have noticed regular (unchallenged) promotion of 'blogs' at GFY which make Rule #1 less clear.

Can you please sharpen the definition?

To my thinking, when a 'blog' allows visitors to input comments and those comments are published in threads, this is functionally a 'board' (forum).

What do you say?

Thanks,
-Dino

MOST sites do NOT facilitate the posting and publishing of user-submitted information in THREADS.

MOST 'boards' (forums) DO.

So do 'blogs'.

funny thing the GFY mods also edit your posts now when you post links to surfer forums ( I have seen that recently happening to someone )

Dino, for clarity's sake, a blog has an author, users can comment on the author's posts. The only person who makes posts to the blog is the author and the author can turn on/off comments depending on how they want their blog to appear. Think of it as a journal that people can comment on, if the author allows it.

There should be no issues whatsoever in linking to blogs.

blogs and forums are apples and oranges. You should read about blogs so you know what they are. A blog only has one posted, one person exxpressing their opinion and it is suppose to be like a webpage that is updated frequently, not a message board that is an on going conversation. Yes, people can leave their comments about different entries into the blog, but thats about it. It is one person talking and others leaving comments. A forum anyone and everyone can register, post thread, make replies, etc.

Is a blog a competition to GFY?

Thanks for the 'feedback'.

I thought that by asking about linking to blogs BEFORE doing so, I would AVOID getting flamed for violating GFY rules.

Looks like you get flamed either way around here.

Thanks,
-Dino
