High end women designers now selling Vibrators

finally they figured out that even thou most women deny using them almost all have em and they spend serious money on a toy that costs $2 to make

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/39939.htm

February 5, 2005 -- There's more to this cute little rubber ducky than meets the eye.
That makeup brush and lipstick aren't so innocent, either.

Take a closer look, and you'll find that these new items from Henri Bendel are all actually well-disguised vibrators.

The newly opened Rykiel Woman boutique, brainchild of Paris designer Nathalie Rykiel (daughter of renowned clothier Sonia Rykiel), is a saucy new section of Bendel's otherwise straight-laced third floor.

And its three sex toys in disguise ? on display amid high-end lingerie, bustier-clad mannequins and garish pink lighting ? make Bendel's the first department store on Fifth Avenue with a dildo display.

Of course, they aren't exactly lowbrow. With prices ranging from $78 (for the duck) to $138 (for the brush), these toys are aimed squarely at the ladies-who-lunch set.

"I took the sordidness and dirtiness out of buying sex toys," Rykiel said.

She says her brush and lipstick vibrators were designed with the traveling gal in mind ? they'll go unquestioned during those pesky security searches.

Or will they?

While several shoppers outside Bendel's guessed that the brush and lipstick were a cellphone, a pen, a camera or Mace, one eagle-eyed teenager saw through the disguise.

"It looks electrical," said 17-year-old Jane Bennett, visiting from London. "Is it a vibrator?"

The sleek black rubber ducky similarly eluded most shoppers. "Is it a bomb?" asked financial adviser Jennifer Yund, 34.

"A coin bank?" asked her pal Yvette Scanlon.

Rob Cortez, 24, put his finger on the right answer instantly, though. "Yeah, you can tell," he said, pointing to the duck's perky, pointed tail.

Since last November, when Bendel's added its new lingerie department, they've been stunned to find that the hottest-selling items are also the raciest (crotchless panties, for example).

So they've cranked up the wattage accordingly. From now until the 15th, shoppers will be treated to a window display featuring mannequins in bondage gear and 6-inch stilettos ? not exactly your typical Fifth Avenue shopping fare.

But not everyone will be celebrating Midtown's new sexual freedom.

"This is just one more indication of how the moral climate has deteriorated over the last 50 years in this country," fumed Frank Russo, spokesman for the American Family Association.

But Rykiel says the new shop isn't trying to warp young minds or destroy the city's virtue ? the boutique is going to be off-limits to children.

"This is all about women's sensuality and pleasure," she said.

Why do people always assume that if there's sex toys, young people will come?

I'm sure that most young people can't afford those prices either.
