why not try comus thumbs autocropper? It does a pretty good job 60-70% of the time. That way, you can cut down the number of thumbs needing manual cropping? Heck I'm sure that's what a lot of people charging for the service do

We can crop thumbs for you. only $0.1 each thumb with a text file in your format!!!
usually we apply two filters. we manually crop, sharpen and brightened the thumb if it is necessary.
sometimes we apply additional filters if the original image is bad quality. so you will get unique thumbs with best CTR!
We made something like a million of thumbs for several affilate programs, you can check nubiles.net for example ;) or I contact me for examples
We can do thumbs as on bunny teens, only the original content must be good quality, most of the video thumbs can not be made so good because of the quality of the original video file.
