I consider myself to be somewhat of a savy guy so please edumoncate me.

People buy and sell - I bought a ton of good domains in 1998 for example that have generated traffic and some have turned into nice flips. Today my budget goes into other Intellectual property inventory. Smut.com is for flipping or leasing. Btw, how many recurring members do you need to cover the lease price? A lot of program owners can do that in the first day of the month after the first couple of months of retention.

You may be very savy in some niches - but I will guess not with the domain niche.

about 250 members rebilling to cover the domain cost. Do I have experience in buying domains? no. I understand branding, and the value that adds but I don't understand branding a domain someone else owns. So i build this membership base up to say 2000 members and my lease expires what happens to my members ? Do i get an option to purchase at a reduced rate or do i now have to pay 10x the price because my efforts drastically increased the value of the domain.

I'll be curious to find out how much it ends up going for, i guess the market will let us know what it is really worth. As part of my education I would like to follow the success of the person who buys it to see how well they do. I "hammer" dime a dozen domains all day and I do great with them. Could i do better with a name like smut.com, maybe so?

Usually the members would be going to into your master account so they stay yours. If you pay a lower monthly and a percentage than the cut keeps going to leasor after the deal the expires. A high profile domain definitely commands publicity, has some value in determining certain factors that people look at when they decide who to trust, opportunity for repeat customers depending on the development, etc..

I am not sure what kind of hammering you are doing to a random domain versus what I consider hammering a smut.com but you have seen several experienced and reputable webmasters agree that $250k is a fair value.

So to answer your last question- I would say definitely Yes, you could better with a name like smut.com than a dime a dozen domain. I would even say, if you bought it and never used it for a day but held it - you would also make money on your resale.

$250k? I thought cams.com sold for $200k and no one on earth had rather have smut.com.

premium type in traffic, blah blah blah

I think he was right, since this is a general domain, not niche targetted at all and the traffic would be no different than 800 ppl daily typyin "smut" into Google

this is not hairypussy.com. this is just smut.com

even on a paysite review site, general type in traffic doesnt convert at 1:50 or 1:100 as some ppl would think

Just IMO

anyway, arguing about this is pointless, since they don't sell it only for the traffic anyway

milambur 02-04-2005 04:39 AM

I wouldn't pay 250K straight up for the domain, but I would give you 5K a month during 50 months for it. ICQ 17363460 if interested.

DomBuyer 02-04-2005 09:59 AM

OKay, since you won't take $100k, I'll offer $50k. :helpme

Bumpity bump for smut

XPays 02-05-2005 05:57 PM

congrats to j$tyle$ on the domain he just scored at sedo-

I will post the winner of the contest on monday and hope everyone is having a nice weekend-

If you did not know- Paris is hosting SNL tonight -- traffic is already spikey as spikey spikes when spiking - time to get the links up quickly if you are not all setup with http://HotelHeiress.com yet--- Google, MSN, Yahoo- galleries, type-ins, doorways and linklists, and all traffic is consuming Paris in droves today :thumbsup

Trust Me - Do not leave money on the table and make some cash on your precious traffic which we track all the way through your exits and more.

They already had a $100k offer in this thread and declined it. Do you think they'll go for $25k less all of a sudden?

I'll give ya a bump with this reply....

It' doesn't matter what several experienced webmasters think it is worth, the value will be determined when/if it gets sold. I guess we will see. And it can't be too hot if it still hasn't sold.

no- perhaps you are thinking of pornstar.com which we sold last fall. imagine how many front-door type ins smut.com can get when many affiliates start promoting for an affiliate program or pay per click search or what have you...

if you are lurking and have interest in acquiring smut.com, feel free to call us or email. the clock is ticking down on this domain offer and several qualified purchasers are on it.

We have seen it take a few weeks for purchasers to make a final decision on big purchases, and then they want everything done yesterday :winkwink:

Congrats to Repetitive Monkey! You've won a $100 Gift certificate to http://XThreadz.com - please email cs @ xpays .com or call us at 415-331-2496 to claim your prize.

Btw, thanks to TNA for pointing out to us that Smut gets over 22000 searches per month at Overture. SE Optimization for the buyer will be a key to future growth.
