hmm he might have had a very large fan blowing ovrhead..to create a suction force..sort of like what happens to you in the shower when the showerscreen comes at you.
or he might have had a small fan blowing air from the bottom up....all in the spin |

Suspended from thin string. If you watch it and assume there is a string attached to the center of the playing card, you'll see that's precisely how it behaves. Especially the part where he kind of misses the grab.

Watch his shadow on the wall, the other end of the string is attached to his head perhaps he's wearing a hat? You can see he controls the movement of the card by moving his head.
