Slick Rick - Players Ball 2001 were you there?

if i am not mistaken he is now deported back to england for breaking parole.

He performed in New Orleans in 2000 and in Vegas in 2002.

Right after the Players Ball he got detained in a holding cell for a very long time after the new 911 laws took effect.

Nah, he got screwed. He did jail time for the crime he was accused of, he still says he was innocent of that crime. But because he did like 5 years and 3 days in prison (numbers might not be exact), the new terror laws state that anyone that was in prison for over 5 years and not born in the US, they were to be deported or in a holding cell until they knew what to do with them.

He didn't break parole, the laws changed and because he did 3 days past the new law of former jail time, he was held for several months in jail not knowing where the hell they'd send him. He was born in Jamaica or England and didn't live in either place since he was a kid.

He hit me up through my agent to see if I could help get people to go online to fill out a petition to free Slick Rick. I sent a bunch of people there and was flattered he sought me out to help him.

That year was one of the greatest Players Balls. One thing that I'm most proud of on that one is, no one had a problem getting inside and we had about 4500 people there. See, sometimes you win with the door people, sometimes you don't.

The reason I had Slick Rick come back and perform again is, I didn't get good quality video from the time he played in New Orleans 2 years prior. So I needed to have the performance video of Slick, figured I'd add Doug E Fresh on that (his second time performing at a Ball too). What made that so special is when Slick and Doug E Fresh did their thing for over 15 minutes together as they transitioned from Slick's show into Doug E Fresh's show.

Theme wasn't pimp and ho, it was Old School. Ashton Kutcher sang back up for Digital Underground as he was double fisted.

I was there... I had fun till some steroid freak tried to rip my head off for hitting on his girl after she asked me for a cig. We both got kicked out towards the end... I had fun anyways.
